Abstract
Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is one of the health problem
that widely spread around tropical regions, most likely in Southeast Asia. There
are 90.245 cases of DHF that were reported in Indonesia at 2012 and there is an
increase of DHF with 112.511 new cases occured in 2013. The incident rate of
DHF in UPTD Puskesmas Kecamatan Pontianak Barats working area is the
highest in Pontianak with 86 new cases reported in 2014. Peoples knowledge
about DHF and its preventions is one of the factor that related to high incidende
of DHF in Indonesia. Objective: The aim of this study was to know the relation
between knowledge level and preventive behavior towards DHF and its incidence
at UPTD Puskesmas Kecamatan Pontianak Barat. Method: This research was an
analytic study with a cross-sectional approach and using non-probability
sampling (consecutive sampling) technique. Samples were interviewed using
questionnaire and data were analyzed using chi-square test. Result: There are
47,8% respondent that have an average level of knowledge and 42,4% respondent
that have an average level of preventive behavior towards DHF. Chi-square test
result showed that statistically there is a relation between knowledge level
(p=0,022) and preventive behavior (p= 0,044) towards DHF and its incidence at
UPTD Puskesmas Kecamatan Pontianak Barat. Conclusion: There is a relation
between knowledge level and preventive towards DHF and its incidence at UPTD
Puskesmas Kecamatan Pontianak Barat
