From the outlet of the heater, 2, it is set as the inlet to the conversion reactor R-1.
The outlet stream of the conversion is labelled 3.
In the conversion reactor the temperature unchanged as well as the pressure.
In the conversion reactor is where the n-heptane is converted to the toluene and the
conversion is set at 15%.
11. Then, the product is fed into separator to separate the two products which are the
Toluene and Hydrogen.

Question
What is the phase of the n-heptane at the inlet and outlet of the heater?
Ans : From table 1, we can see that the at the inlet of the heater, the phase of the n-heptane is
pure liquid as the vapor fraction is 0.000 while at the outlet of the heater the n-heptane
change phase to pure vapor due to the increase of temperature from 65 F to 800 F.
Determine the mole fraction for each component at the outlet of the separator.
Ans : Table 1 shows that the mole fraction of Hydrogen, n-Heptane and Toluene is 0.9569,
0.03781 and 0.00529 respectively at the outlet stream 5. In the outlet stream 6, the mole
fraction of Hydrogen, n-Heptane and Toluene is 0.00052, 0.8488 and 0.15608 respectively.
This conclude that at the top outlet stream which is pure vapor, contain a lot of the Hydrogen
gas and at the bottom outlet stream of the separator which is pure liquid, contains a lot of nHeptane.
