Me on the Map Product Descriptor

Throughout the unit, students will be working through packets modeled after the
book, Me on the Map by Joan Sweeney. Each page of the student booklet has a map
which corresponds with a lesson in the unit, beginning with a map of their bedroom
and ending with a world map. On each page, students will be responsible for
drawing and/or labeling different landmarks on the map.
Students will draw the maps of their bedroom and neighborhood. The following
pages include an outline of their state, their country and the seven continents. On
these maps, students will label the different locations on the existing drawing.

Page 1 Students will fill in a rectangle (representing 4 walls) with images that
represent landmarks in their bedroom
Page 2 Students will fill in the box with landmarks that represent their
neighborhood. This map will include their house, and 3 landmarks that would
make it clear to them that the map represented the place where they live.
Page 3 Students will be given an outline of their state, and label the city
where they live, as well as the state capital.
Page 4 Students will be given an outline of the United States (including the
individual states) and label the state they live in, along with assigned
landmark states which include: Maine, Michigan, Florida, Texas and
Massachusetts.
Page 5 Students will be given a world map with outlines of the seven
continents, and be asked to circle the continent where they live, and label the
other 6 continents.
