Argumentative Essay

Why should students go to University?
As most high-paying jobs in these days require people who are well-educated and
have good job skills, nobody can deny the fact that higher education is important and
necessary for getting job. For that reason, with 92% of high school graduates heading to
universities, the competition for places at the top universities is immensely high (Jordan,
2014). Most of the Korean students normally consider attending university. Through the
studies in the university, students can become the people who are well-educated and have
good job skills. Attending university offers one's academic and personal development.
The first reason why people attend university is for the higher level of education
with more various options. In Korea, during high school, students are required to take
classes that they do not want to learn. However, unlike high school education,
university students can choose what they want to learn. Students may have different
interests and different abilities. Some are good at studying, while others may have
extraordinary skills at sports, art, and music. The duty of university is to bring out and teach
the students' own characteristic talents and hone them to the best of their ability, not to force a
rigid academic standard on those who don't have academic nature, but other talents. On the
contrary to this, whether students are still exploring what they want to study, hard-to-find
major in mind, student would have a chance to find their interest in the university.
Universities have become very flexible in their programs, offering online classes and outside
classes (Jody, 2016). As this research has indicated, Students decision is important

when choosing what they want to study in hundreds of classes. University study
system helps students in learning specific education and training for career and
aspects of own life.
On top of that, students could get not only academic knowledge but also social
relationship experiences from the university. University students have more
opportunities to experience various activities such as group project, international
activity, academic social group, and student council. Many activities require
students to meet new people and work with them. By participating in those
activities, students get to learn how to work with people. For example, the research
shows that group work helps students learn how to work with people outside of their circle
of friends, which includes those who have different backgrounds and experiences. They can
even learn how to work with those who disagree with them, and others they might not like or
want as friends (Maryellen,2013). Also learning how groups function productively. Those
effects of group work would be a good experience when coping with relationship struggles in
company life. Students could learn the importance of collaborative efforts.
People who are on the negative side may ask, "Do all the students who graduate
university get a job easily?" They may think the answer is, "No" because youth
unemployment has emerged as a serious social concern confronting a number of Asian
countries. In South Korea, there are three million economically inactive graduates (Joshua,
2016). The report shows that university is not the best way to get a job easily. However,
students who have attended university are more favored when the companies hire.
According to this research, "Experience levels generally allow a person to hit the ground
running without a lot of hand-holding. Managers do not have time to mentor and train people
as in the past (Zupek, 2011). We can find out from the research that the student who has

relevant work experience gets more advantages. The university education these days
includes various kinds of activities. For instance, a research trip to the rainforest in biology
class is a favorable activity among students which not only helps their understanding of the
study, but also appears as a qualification on their record for the future job. Similarly, having
an internship or some type of work experience will also be beneficial to students who have
received academic credit for completing them. For university students, who are preparing to
step into "the real world" or the society, having an experience is now a necessity.
To sum up, there are many benefits in attending university. University helps students to
get higher education, social relationship experiences and, advantage in employment. As you
develop your knowledge, find yourself in the university with lots of activities and
experiences. What students should remember is Do anything that you want, nobody can lead
your life.
