What I observed:
Mishayla,
I enjoyed observing your class on Tuesday. You gathered the students around you in the front of the
classroom. You started the lesson by an attention activity where you asked students if they were excited
about Easter. You spent some time talking about why they were excited. You then told them today would
be a very fun lesson. Todays learning goal was to teach what a how to book is. You taught students key
features of a how to book. You guided the students in the basic steps they would take to complete their
project. You listed each step on the whiteboard that the students would follow. Following this you excused
the students to go back to their seats and handed each student and writing sheet. You projected a sample
of the sheet that each student had and carefully guided the students in writing each step on their sheet.
Observations included:

You used an attention activity to get student ready for the lesson. You used students prior
experiences to create interest for the lesson.
You kept students focused on the objective by using the projector to help assure that all students
could complete the worksheet.
You projected well with the students using good voice quality and intonation.
You worked at keeping students focused on the task with a clear focus on the objective. You
circulated around the classroom often to check to see if students were able to complete the task of
writing the steps. Good job in creating a strong culture for learning.
You had prepared well for the lesson with materials and activities that supported your learning goal.
You set clear expectations for each student to complete their task before working on painting an
Easter egg. Setting the time limits with a reward encourages students to work through the task
with more intent.
You gained closure for the lesson by quickly reviewing the learning goal for the day using several
students finished work as an example.
