Method Statement -Floor Hardener

1.0 OBJECTIVE OF PROCEDURE

This work method statement covers the applying floor hardener at (affected building) for
(your project name).
This work method statement provides information concerning method of application to
ensure compliance with contract requirements and drawings besides to perform safe
working environment and compliance with safety requirements.
2.0 DESCRIPTION
PYEFLOOR HARDENER NS is designed to provide a monolithic abrasion and impact
resistant floor finish. It is composed of selected silica quartz aggregates, cement and
plasticizer. PYEFLOOR HARDENER NS can be applied onto any concrete or cementatious
based substrate.
3.0 SEQUENCE OF WORK
4.0 WORK METHODOLOGY
4.1 Surface Preparation
Base concrete substrate must be fully compacted with a grade of 30N/mm 3 and a site
slump test of 75 to 100mm. The base concrete shall be stiffened, at an initial setting
point, where light foot traffic is allowed and does not leave a maximum of 5 mm deep
imprint. However, the timing shall not be too late until the moisture within the concrete is
sufficient to hydrate the PYEFLOOR HARDENER NS. Bleeding on the surface is to be
avoided.
4.2 Application
1.

Evenly broadcast about 60% of the material onto the base substrate.

2.

Wait until the colour of the PYEFLOOR HARDENER NS darkens from the absorption of the
moisture from the base substrate.

3.

Lightly compact the material using a mechanical power floating machine, at a low
speed, to prepare the surface for the second application of PYEFLOOR HARDENER NS. Do
not overwork the surface at this stage.

4.

Repeat the process again with the balance 40% of the material.

5.

Compact with mechanical power floating machine at a high speed until a dense finish is
achieved.

4.3 Curing
1.

Spray apply proper curing compound or use polyethylene sheet.

2.

Polyethylene sheet must be used to protect the floor finish surface in case of rain.

5.0 SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMME

5.1 Safety

All workers shall provide with PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and shall be

worn every time they are entering the site.

Impervious gloves and barrier cream should be used when handling these

products.

Eye protection should be worn. If accidental eye contamination occurs, wash

thoroughly with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

If the product contacted with skin occurs, it must be removed before curing takes

place. Wash out with an industrial skin cleaner followed by plenty of soap & water.

The Safety Supervisor / Safety Officer shall ensure the workers understand the

safety regulations and explain in detail in particular hazards, where the workers are
working and the precaution to be taken their safety.

5.2 Environmental

All workers shall educate on good environmental management practices and well-

disciplined to environment.

The garbage bin shall be provided at the working area and Supervisor shall ensure

its must be collected regularly and disposed-off at the approved dumpsite.

Safety team shall ensure that no open burning of construction or domestic wastes

is practiced.

All workers shall ensure that all tools and equipment machinery are in good

condition to avoid any oil leakage that could harm to environment.

Spillage of component products should be absorbed onto earth, sand or other inert

material and transferred to a suitable vessel. Disposal of such spillages or empty

packaging should be in accordance with local waste disposal authority regulations.
