as an beast. One of my group members had mentioned that because I am tall so that I can act
well in the scenes but when I have done my practices I found that it was not true. Being a
character is an important element in an acting career. But in my situation, I dislike to become
beast and it lead me to cannot perform well during my practices. According to Rober H.Schuller
(1926 -2015), never bring the problem solving stage into the decision making stage. Otherwise,
you surrender yourself to the problem rather than the solution. I decided to become the beast
because to avoid the problems in my group but when we make decision we also need to think
about ourselves and others too. So I finally decided to love my character and done my best
during the dramatization.
Apart from that, from the dramatization, I also have learned to make props for
childrens drama. I also learned to make settings for the drama and the costumes too. For the
beast character, I have made the beard and the long hair and it give me a brand new
experience. My group members teach me how to make the props cheap and at the same time
good and colorful. We have spent many times to complete the materials for our dramatization.
According to Charging Minds.org (2016), in a play on a stage, props can be used to enliven and
give some physical substance to the play. I am totally agreed with the sayings because from the
dramatization I have learned that for a good drama we need to work hard for the props and
settings to create a real scenario of the dramatization. From the dramatization I also have
learned how to works together. Working together as a group promotes, encourages and
motivates cooperation. It is essential that each of our students feels accepted and works well
with others, in order to create and build a safe environment for all to learn. As a teacher, we
should work together with our pupils develop social awareness through the dramatization. .
In my point of view, I would say that, drama can be used as a teaching and learning
tool to help students make meaning of a number of skills they need to be a well rounded
individual. It further allows them to experience and explore the world around them through
different characters and roles, further building on their relationship with others and things. These
all experience could help me in my future career as a teacher. In my future ESL classroom, I
would teach my pupils to create a good story in the form script. I could teach them how to
choose the story and the real format of writing script. The knowledge that I gained from this
course can be applicable in my future career. Apart from that, I also could teach my pupils about
the stage. I will teach the positions in the stages which could help them in their drama practice.
In our dramatization we made mistakes in our standing position in the stage and that experience
will guide us when we teach the future generation. Moreover, I also would teach my pupils on
how to make props with cheap and using the recycle things around us. I also will teach them on
how to choose the right costume and also how to choose the right character for ourselves. It will
help to create the self confidence of the pupils and also the pupils may play their role well. As a
future teacher, I also would teach my pupils to express their emotions and do the right
expression during the dramatization. Under different characters, students can express their true
feelings or sense of personality without fear of being judged or criticized. Essentially, what this
does is allow students to get things off their mind, further releasing emotion and tension and
allowing students to be who they are. As their teacher, I will focus on their acting ability with their
personal characteristics to create good actors on the stage.
During the dramatization, I also have learned that drama fully included with the Multiple
Intelligences of the pupils as proposed by the Howard Gardner. The common three elements
under Multiple Intelligences which are bodily kinesthetic, visual and linguistics are being applied
in this dramatization. So as a teacher we should focus on these skills when teaching drama to
our kids. . Behaviorism is more concerned with behavior than with thinking, feeling, or knowing.
It focuses on the objective and observable components of behavior. Behaviour is shaped
through the positive and negative reinforcement. When the pupils gain more marks they will try
to give more answers and it helps the teacher to make the pupils bravely give their ideas. At the
same time, when they make mistakes and distract other groups the teacher will deduct the mark
as a punishment for their behavior. Here the teacher may control the drama well. Apart from
that, I also found that , dramatization could help to improve pupils cognitive thinking skills. The
pupils may learn will learn on how to make quick actions in difficult situations. For an example,
when the pupils has been choose to act, they need to think quickly on how to put their ideas in
the form of dialogues.
As a future teacher, I will take all the steps to apply the elements of drama to
educate the future generation who can be the good actors of the world tomorrow. In conclusion ,
I learned that teaching is an art because we need to be painter who colored the blank gives
color on the white sheet and as a teacher we paint the color called knowledge in the small kids
mind. According to Brad Henry (1963-till now) , A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the
imagination, and instill a love of learning. I hope I will become a good teacher in future.
