1.0 INTRODUCTION

Here in this report the design of columns, piles and pile caps are enclosed. The columns
are starting at the level of +17.0m which is 1.0m below the average ground level +18.0m.
The capacity of the 500mm diameter pile is calculated as 1050 KN ( 105 tonnes ) from the
soil characterstics. The loads considerd for the design are as follows.
A) At +20.0m level ( Valve Floor Level )

Design of Pile
The strata at founding level is brownish silty sand with traces of clay and strata from scour
level ( i.e -0.5 ) to founding level is grayish sandy silty clay. Therefore the pile is designed as
bored cast in situ with resistance from end bearing in sand ( Granular Soil ) with frictional
resistance from cohesive soils from level -0.5 to -8.5. The resistance of soil from G.L
( +18.0 ) upto scour level i.e -0.5m level is totally neglected. This assumption is very much
on safer side. Considering resistance due to from level -8.5 to -0.5m.
