ForthepastfewweeksIhavebeenreadingvariousbooks.Oneofthosebooksthat
reallycaughtmyeyewasabookednamedRandom.Thisbookisnotonlyheartbreaking,butit
teachesyouaveryvaluablelesson.Throughoutthisbook,Ihavelearnedtostandupforothers
whoarethevictimsofnotonlycyberbullying,butbullyingingeneral.Ittaughtmethatjustone
actioncouldeithersavealifeorendit.Justonesimplewavecouldstopsomeonefromdoing
somethinghorribletothemselves,likesuicide.Itdoesnttakeawholelotofefforttohelp
someoneout.Helpstopbullyinginsteadofhelpingpeoplestartit!

Inmyopinion,IthinkthebookRandomwaswrittentomakepeoplerealizethatyoucan
helppeoplewhoarebullied,oratleasttrytopreventitfromhappening.Theauthorofthisbook
providedareallyspecificsetting,makingitfeelasifyouwerethere.Ithinkthishelpedgetthe
mainideaoutofthewholebook.Ithinkthemainideawastotryandteachpeoplenotto
participateinbullyingnomatterwhosdoingitorhowcoolitllmakeyoulook.Ithinktheauthor
wastryingtoprovethatbullyingcanleadintoahorribleeffectnotjustforyou,butalsoforthe
victim.Thewaytheplottwistsmakesmerealizethattheauthorwastryingtoprovehowjust
oneactioncouldmakeahugeimpactinsomeoneslife,goodorbad.

Inthestory,Toriisthegirlwhoisbeingaccusedofparticipatingincyberbullying.Lateat
nightshereceivesarandomphonecallfromacompletestranger.Theunknowncallerasksher

foronlyonething,areasonnottokillhimself.Tori,thinkingitsjustanotherprankfromthe
peoplewhohateher,shehangsup.Shecanthelpbutfeeltheneedtocalltheunknowncaller.
Shesoonfindsherselftryingherbesttosavethestrangerfromcommittingsuicide.Asshe
finallygetstheaddresstowherethestrangeris,shedrivesthereasfastasshecould,hoping
sheisnttoolate.Attheend,thestranger,namedAndy,doesntendupkillinghimselfor
anythinglikethat.Itwasaneyeopenerforhertorealizethatshehadgonethroughallthat
troubletryingtosaveatotalstrangerfromcommittingsuicide,butshedidnotoncetrytohelp
herfriendwhoeventuallycommittedsuicide.Ithinkthemoralofthiswastoteachthereader
thatsometimesyoudontrealizehowsomethingcanimpactsomeonemorethanyouthink.It
alsotriestoteachyouthatyoucandosomethinggreatwithouttryingtohard.Youcanhelp
