1. Login to the CCBC Library website. Search for TWO (2) scholarly journal articles
in the library databases on a topic listed below. Be sure to check the box on the left
of the search results to only show scholarly journal articles.
Article must discuss one or more of the following topics:

Mobile technology
Ethics
Privacy
Security
Emerging technology

Answer the following questions: (9 points)


a) List the keywords you used to find the articles. (1 point)
Robots and next-generation robotics were used to find the articles.
b) Identify the database you used. (1 point)
A database for the first article Potential of robots ... is MasterFILE Premier. A database
for the second article Collaborative robots for DIY automation is General OneFile.
c) Why did you choose this database? (1point)
c.1.) MasterFILE Premier Database is a reliable source that is updated daily. The
Database was established in 1984 and currently provides indexing and abstracts for about
5000 periodicals.
c.2.) By being the largest general-interest database, General OneFile is serving the
public library's ultimate periodical resource with more than 8,000 titles. The database has
a wide audience of readers because of using both PDF and HTML full-text availability.
d) Cite DB article 1 in APA or MLA format. (2 points). MLA format was used to cite

2. Search the Internet to find a current event article on the same topic. The article
must be current (no more than 30 days old) and from a reputable source. Some
recommended sites are zdnet.com, techcrunch.com, technology sections of CNN,
BBC, NY Times, and Economist.
I used techcrunch.com to find a current event article on the emerging technology topic.
Answer the following questions: (5 points)
a) Write a paragraph summarizing the article in 3-4 sentences. Include the title of the
article. (3 points)
Robots add real value when working with humans, not replacing them.
Based on Da Vinci Surgical System examples, this article brings a scientific explanations of
not replacing humans by robots, but to perform them even better in collaboration with
robotic systems. Also, the article discusses the ways of teaching the new generations of
professionals who will be working with robots. Moreover, there is a discussion about humanrobots collaborations impact on the economic sphere.
b) Cite Internet article 1 in APA or MLA format. (2 points). I used MLA format to cite
an Internet article 1.

The Internet article 1 was posted on May 29, 2016. The article has not been
updated.
b) Relevance does it relate to your topic or answer your question?
The article is definitely relevant to my topic. Both an article and a topic discuss
next-generation robotics and their usefulness in fast-passing time.
c) Authority who is/are the author(s)? Are they qualified to write about this
topic? How do you know?

Matt Beane is the author of an article. While being working as a Chief HumanRobot Interaction Officer at Humatics and writing tech articles for
techcrunch.com for a couple of years, he is authorized and confident to create
such a reliable sources of information.
d) Accurate is the information trustworthy? Is it supported by evidence? Has
it been tested for accuracy?
The information published in the article is proven accurate and shows results of
the Da Vinci Surgical Systems researches that operate in hospitals worldwide.
e) Purpose why was it written, to inform, sell, persuade? Is there a bias or is
the material objective?
The whole articles purpose is to inform the audience about prospective of
collaboration among humans and robots. The information is objective and
describes both pros and cons of the humans and robots collaboration.
5. Compare the Internet and Journal articles. (6 points 2 points per section).
Compare the Internet article 1 and DB article 1 based on the following criteria. Use
a separate paragraph for each criteria.
a) Ease of access
I noticed that it is easier to access the Scholarly Journal articles than the
Internet articles because the Internet articles are full of paid adds and chasing
commercial profit. Scholarly articles have an informative purpose that makes
them more reliable sources.
b) Timeliness
Although Internet articles are more up-to-date than a Journal articles, Internet
increasingly uses unproved information and sometimes does not provide an

official point of view.
c) Authority
Usually, there is only one person who writes an article for the Internet and
there is not a hundred per cent possibility that he is authorized to write about
new developments or innovations. At the same time, there is usually a
professional group of experts who has been working on a Scholarly Journal
articles. As a result, a scholarly articles are more reliable sources than Internet
daily not all the time proven sensations.
