44

"Death of L.K. Showman," Hobart Gazette 5 Dec. 1902, an obituary largely reprinted from a paper local to Waverly, Tennessee
(where Mr. Showman died), states that Mr. Showman had left Hobart for Waverly in 1897; but it may be mistaken by a year, since the
May 1898 Gazette Souvenir Edition speaks of Mr. Showman as still doing business in Hobart. However, William Elder (his son-inlaw) continued to operate the photography studio under the Showman name until selling the business to A.O. Merrill ("Sold Out,"
Hobart Gazette 18 Aug. 1899).
