Visionary Leadership
Artifact 1:
I. Title: Assignment #3 Comic Strip
II .Description: This comic strip is titled: The Legislative Process and it is targeted toward 9th
grade students. The instructional design process is to develop a comic strip to teach students the
process of how a bill becomes law. The objective of this comic strip is to teach using the process
of sequence; in this case the idea is for students to learn the steps of introducing a bill to the final
step of having it signed into law by the President. Since comics have an appeal to children they
can be very effective in teaching because they can attract and motivate learners.

Reflection:
This artifact enlightened me on an effective approach for instruction. There are many ways that
using comic strips can be effective for instruction. In a language arts class comic strips can be
used to create story boards for an original story or to illustrate a book or play being read in class.
Or, encourage students to create comic strips that change the ending of a book they have just
read. If students are creating short stories or novels they will find that comic strips can provide
them with a way to experiment with dialog that can be incorporated into their writing of text.
Comic can also be used as a way of formative assessment by having students demonstrate
knowledge of content in a specific unit that is being taught. This preparing this artifact has
provided me with knowledge and skills to enhance future lessons.

Artifact 2:
I. Title: Blended Learning in High Schools
II. Description: The purpose of this project was to introduce the integration of technology into
teaching and learning. The topic of blended learning in high schools was chosen for this project.
A course created in a blended learning model uses the classroom time for activities that benefit
the most from direct interaction. Traditional education tends to place an emphasis on delivering
material by way of a lecture, while in a blended learning model lectures can be videotaped ahead
of time so the student can watch on their own time. The classroom time is more likely to be for
structured exercises that emphasize the application of the curriculum to solve problems or work
through tasks.

Reflection:
This project involved identifying and proposing the integration of technology into a school or
media center. The proposed plan of integrating blended learning into a high school involved
conducting research, collecting data and communicating with stakeholders. The culmination of
this project was to prepare a presentation that would provide stakeholders with the information
necessary to make an informed decision about blended learning. This assignment was very
rewarding as it provided me with valuable knowledge and processes of integrating technology in
to education.
