(3) Select a Universe

Choosing the Universe depends on the data type needed: i.e.:

GSM data needed; Dropped calls, TCH availability, Down time .universe BSDR81 to be selected.
GPRS and EDGE data needed; Throughput, data volume Universe CELLGPRS or BSCGPRS to be
selected
Transmission and DIP monitoring (ES and SF); universe DIPUNIVE to be selected
Core and TRC utilization monitoring; universe BSDR81 to be selected.

1. Business Objects report should have one or more Net Element like MSC, LA, BSC or
Cell_Normal
2. Normal_Peak should be selected (either Normal for average values over 24h/day,
or Peak to have the values according to the cell or BSC peak hour
3. Time should be selected, its possible to differentiate between Time (Date+Hour) to
assist to view STS based on hourly resolution and Time (Date) to view STS based on
daily resolution

After report running

After running the report; BO asks to select a resolution. i.e.: Week resolution shows
stats for average of the week (if Normal element is selected), or it shows the stats
during the peak day of the week (if Peak element is selected).
As for Hour resolution; its not possible to select Peak in parallel with this
resolution since the chosen hour for the study might not match the days peak hour.

Making Drill

Right click on the report name to choose

Drill option. Then to select the column we
want to make a drill through by right click
and Set as Drill filter

This feature allows to get a drop down

list and to choose the desired item in
order to view its parameters. This step is
helpful since no need to make filtering.

Alerter

Alerter feature enables to

highlight a value or range of values that
match a condition we can define in Alerter
pop up window. This feature is very useful to
drag the analyzer's attention to a certain
problem

Ranking

Apply ranking feature enables to

view the top or lowest values for a certain
counter or formula. Worth to mention that
ranking should be done for a Dimension
(Cell_normal, BSC..) using the values of a
measure (traffic, counters, formulas.. )

Publishing\Retrieving reports

Business Objects has the option of sending

or publishing a report to Corporate
Documents to enables all users to use this
report, or just to send it to a specific user.

It also has the option of retrieving a report

from Corporate Documents (for predefined
reports) or from a certain user.

Additional hints
Using more than a Universe in the same report
Report Manager

Right click in the Report Manager window and choosing New Data
Provider to insert a new universe variables. Another report can be created from
the new variables.

One more tip

During creating a new data provider in an old report; its possible to choose a new
universe rather than the old one (2nd option in the picture above , or to maintain
the old universe by selecting the 1st option).
