M Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister of Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and
Parliamentary Affairs has launched the Inclusiveness and Accessibility Index to mark the next chapter
of its flagship Campaign, the Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan at a function held in New Delhi on 30th March
Industry (FICCI).
The Inclusiveness and Accessibility Index helps the industries and corporates to participate in the
Accessible India Campaign (AIC) by voluntarily evaluating their readiness for making the workplace
accessible for Persons with Disabilities. The Prime Minister made a call to the Corporate Sector to come
forward and support the Campaign during his speech on the occasion of the launch of AIC on 3rd
December 2015, which also marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The Index toolkit aims at assessing the current stage of inclusiveness and accessibility of persons with
disabilities by an organization. It can also act as a guide for taking progressive steps to increase support,
inclusiveness and accessibility towards persons / employees with disabilities. The toolkit is based on
research, and the best examples and experiences of organizations that have taken initiatives to increase
accessibility of persons with disabilities and have benefited from such initiatives. The study will prioritize
constructing the Accessibility Index for corporates to measure sensitivity towards persons with
disabilities which will benchmark corporates operating in a given sector with their national peers.
Extensive stakeholder consultations with NGOs and corporate sector will be held to ensure that the
Index accommodates wide-ranging views of all stakeholders and is a robust document. At the second
stage, the study will examine the role of state and NGOs in creating an enabling environment and
executing the intent of regulations in promoting accessibility of disabled persons.
The absorption and recognition of the Index by the Corporate Sector and public sector organizations will
benefit them immensely by

The Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) is a large-scale physics experiment and

39.7674 crore for National Water Informatics Centre (NWIC) to be taken up in two stages. It also
provides for establishment of NWIC as an independent organization under the control of Ministry of

The NHP will help in gathering Hydro-meteorological data which will be stored and analysed on a real
time basis and can be seamlessly accessed by any user at the State/District/village level. The project
envisages to cover the entire country as the earlier hydrology projects covered only 13 States.
The components of the proposal are:
1. In Situ Hydromet Monitoring System and Hydromet Data Acquisition System.

The Union Government has given nod for setting up Indias first personal rapid transit (PRT) network for

As per the reports, the groundwork to roll the countrys first Metrino Pod project is being laid by the

The financing for this 'completely private project' will be made by the private company that sets up the
personal rapid transit in the region.

The two sides inked a pact for avoidance of double taxation of income derived from International Air
Transport. The agreement seeks to avoid double taxation of income derived from international air
transport.
Both sides signed an agreement for the exchange of information with respect to taxes. The agreement
envisages mutual assistance for exchange of information that is relevant to the administration and
enforcement of the domestic laws concerning taxes covered by the Agreement. It also includes
exchange of information relevant to the determination, assessment and collection of such taxes, the
recovery and enforcement of tax claims, or the investigation and prosecution of tax matters.
India and Maldives signed a bilateral agreement related to Orbit Frequency Coordination of "South Asia
Satellite" proposed at 48oE. The agreement shall be used for the purpose of performing intersystem
orbit-frequency coordination for the operation of 'South Asia Satellite'; and fulfilling ITU level regulatory
requirements and obtaining international level protection/recognition for the 'South Asia Satellite'.
Both sides entered into an MoU for cooperation in the area of conservation and restoration of ancient
mosques and joint research and exploratory surveys in Maldives. The MoU proposes to undertake

What: launched the Inclusiveness and Accessibility Index
M Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister of Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and
Parliamentary Affairs has launched the Inclusiveness and Accessibility Index to mark the next chapter
of its flagship Campaign, the Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan at a function held in New Delhi on 30th March
Industry (FICCI).
The Inclusiveness and Accessibility Index helps the industries and corporates to participate in the
Accessible India Campaign (AIC) by voluntarily evaluating their readiness for making the workplace
accessible for Persons with Disabilities. The Prime Minister made a call to the Corporate Sector to come
forward and support the Campaign during his speech on the occasion of the launch of AIC on 3rd
December 2015, which also marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The Index toolkit aims at assessing the current stage of inclusiveness and accessibility of persons with
disabilities by an organization. It can also act as a guide for taking progressive steps to increase support,
inclusiveness and accessibility towards persons / employees with disabilities. The toolkit is based on
research, and the best examples and experiences of organizations that have taken initiatives to increase
accessibility of persons with disabilities and have benefited from such initiatives. The study will prioritize
constructing the Accessibility Index for corporates to measure sensitivity towards persons with
disabilities which will benchmark corporates operating in a given sector with their national peers.
Extensive stakeholder consultations with NGOs and corporate sector will be held to ensure that the
Index accommodates wide-ranging views of all stakeholders and is a robust document. At the second
stage, the study will examine the role of state and NGOs in creating an enabling environment and
executing the intent of regulations in promoting accessibility of disabled persons.
The absorption and recognition of the Index by the Corporate Sector and public sector organizations will
benefit them immensely by

astronomy are organized by the LIGO Scientific Collaboration which includes more than 900 scientists

The new additional section of 379-A(1) will define chain snatching as a crime and the convict will be
sentenced under section 379-A(2), which provides minimum of 2 years and maximum of 5 years rigorous
imprisonment.
Besides this, the IPC section 379-B will award rigorous imprisonment of minimum three years and
maximum five years and fine of Rs 25,000, in case of causing grievous injury to the victim or snatching
the chain by issuing threat with a weapon.

Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
Key points about Unified Payments Interface (UPI):
The UPI is a system for instant, online bank payments.
To send money to someone, you need to know only their UPI ID - a virtual identity like an email address.
This could be your name, or your phone number, so for example, if your phone number is 1234567890,
then your virtual address could be 1234567890@sbi (if your bank is SBI) or 1234567890@axis (if you're
an Axis bank customer).
It eliminates the need of knowing the recipient's name, their bank account number, and IFSC code (or
bank branch).
It is built on top of the IMPS, which you may have used to transfer money between bank account. Like
IMPS, UPI is immediate, and works 24x7, through the year, unlike NEFT or RTGS services, which have
specific working hours.
It can also be used for shopping online - instead of entering your debit card number, expiry date and
CVV code, followed by waiting for the OTP, you'd just enter your UPI ID, and get an alert on your phone
to verify the transaction.
Because it's using the phone to verify transactions, UPI is secure - someone else can't just enter your ID
and spend your money.
Anyone can also use the UPI to send a request for money, like an invoice. This means that anyone could
become a merchant, and take payment for any goods or services from your account to their account.

The Indian IP Panorama is a customized version of IP Panorama Multimedia toolkit, developed by World
Intellectual Property Organization, Korean Intellectual Property Office and Korea Invention Promotion
Association. Reportedly, the toolkit has been adapted to cater to SMEs and start-ups, especially in the
ICTE sector of India, based on an agreement signed between WIPO and DeitY. The Indian IP Panorama is
in accordance with Indian IP laws, standards, challenges and needs of the Indian ICTE sector.

The Indian IP Panorama has been developed under the aegis of Department of Electronics and

Background:
India is a member of WIPO and party to several treaties administered by WIPO. Recognizing that the
strategic use of intellectual property could contribute significantly to the national development
objectives of India, DIPP entered into an MoU with WIPO on 13th November 2009. The Indian IP office
has been recognised as an International Searching Authority and International Preliminary Examining
Authority under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (as in force from October 15, 2013). It may be recalled
that a leading Indian consumer electronics company, Micromax Informatics Limited was recognized with
the 1.25 millionth international trademarks under WIPOs Madrid System for the International
Registration of Marks.

About Akash missile:

target at supersonic speed without any retardation.

The 22nd edition of the CORPAT would include participation of one warship and one Maritime Patrol
Aircraft from both sides with the Closing Ceremony being held at Port Blair, Headquarters Andaman and
Nicobar Command (HQANC) from 25-27 Apr 16. The Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Andaman and
Nicobar Command, Vice Admiral BK Verma, AVSM and Rear Admiral Warongkorn Osathanonda,
Commander, Phangnga Naval Base, 3rd Naval Area Command, of the Royal Thailand Navy will be the
Senior Officers at the Closing Ceremony.
