1. APA Style
Manuscripts should be prepared according to the
guidelines of the current Publication Manual of the
American Psychological Association (APA).
APA 6th edition recommends using 12 pt. Times New
Roman font. All text throughout your paper should
be double-spaced (including reference).

2.1 Title Page


In the un-blinded copy of the title page, please
include your title and author notes. Each author
should include a biography of no more than 3
sentences and contact information (address, phone,
fax, E-mail, and URL). Please do not include this
information in the blinded copy.
Running head is needed throughout your
manuscript. Please note that on the title page, your
page header/running head should look like this:
Running head: TITLE OF YOUR PAPER

Pages after the title page should have a running


head that looks like this:

TITLE OF YOUR PAPER

2.2 Abstract & Keywords


Please start a new page to Include an abstract no
more than 75 words in length.
Please list 4-6 keywords and place them under your
abstract. To include your keywords, please start a
new paragraph, type Keywords: (italicized), and then
list your keywords using regular font. Separate
keywords by a comma, for example:
Keywords: service-learning, partnership, community engagement, higher
education

Please note that keywords should not be found in


the title of your paper.

2.3 Main Body


Use proper headings to label different sections of
your manuscript. There are 5 heading levels in
APA. The format of each level is listed below:

Left-aligned, Boldface, Uppercase and Lowercase Heading

Indented, boldface, lowercase heading with a period. Begin body text after the
period.

period.

2.4 References

List all references cited in the main body of your

manuscript.

Make sure each reference has a accompany in-

text citation.

Use hanging indentation for the entire reference

list.

3. Blinding
Two versions should be uploaded one that is
blinded, which should be uploaded as the primary
copy, and the other should be un-blinded and
uploaded as a supplemental file.

4. Acknowledgements and
Footnotes
Acknowledgements and footnotes are usually placed
at the end of the main body and the references
section. Please make sure that this section is
removed in the blinded copy.

5. Supplemental Documents
Authors may submit 2-3 electronic color
photographs (as separate files) that demonstrate the
activities or outcomes of the community engagement
activities featured in the manuscript (JPEG or GIF
files are preferred). Non-photographic tables and
figures should be cited and imbedded in the
narrative text with titles and captions.
