Butasperoneoftheprojectspecification,hydrotestshallbeperformedasperthecode,howeverMAPshallbeusedinlieuofMAWP.
Whatisthesignificanceofthis?

Alsoifiamhavingahigherthicknessmargin(giventhk.requiredthk.),theMAPwillbehigher.Alsothehydrotestpressure.
Thevesselisfailingtohydritestpressureduetothis.Ifincreasedthevesselthickness,theMAPwillalsoincreaseagain.

Myproblemis,ihaveselectedthehydrotestasperUG99B(1.3*MAWP).Nowihaveincorporatethecomment'hydrotestshallbe
performedaspercodewhereMAPshallbeusedinleiuofMAWP"Heremyhydrostaticpressureincreasesandvesselfails.
Iamalsotriedwithincreasingthevesselthickness.Butuknow,theMAPincreaseswrtincreaseinthicknesswithhydrostaticpressure.

TheMAWPrelatestothecorrosionofthevesselovertimeanditsretestingandcertificationatintervalsunderperiodicretests
witnessedbytheEngineer/Surveyorfromthecompanyprovidingburstindemnityinsurancecoveronthevessel.Ascorrosion
continueswithtime,theMAWPwillreducewithtime.Atsomepoint,renewalsandreplacementsofpartsofortheentiretyofthe
vesselwillbecomeappropriate.
Thetestpressureis1.3timeseitheroftheabovedependingonwhenthevesselisbeingtestedandwitnessed.
Itisfarbetterforthevesseltofailitstestwithanincompressiblefluidsuchaswaterthanwithprocessfluidswhileinuse.A
failedtestindicatesrepairsorreplacementneedtotakeplacebeforeprocessfluidsarereintroducedtothevessel.

havebeencalculatedcorrectlythemetalstressonhydrotestwouldbewelltheUTS,sofailuresuggestsverypoorworkmanship.
You'rerightthatifyouincreasethethicknessyoualsoincreasethecalculatedhydrotestpressure,sojustaslikelytofailthetest.

1.MAWPstandformaximumallowableworkingpresureatcorrodedcondition.theMAWPisobtainedfortheselectedthicknessofplate
lesscorrosionallowance,byusingthesameequationofUG27.ASMEdiv1.(expselectedthickness=10mm,whilerequiredthickness=
7.1mm).MAWPstatesthatsupposeafter10yrscoorossionmighthastaken,thevesselcanstandthispressure.
2.MAPstandsforMaximumallowablepressureatnewandcoldcondition,thatistheMAPiscalculateforselectedthicknesswithout
corroisonwhenthevesselisnew.(expselectedthickness=10mm,whilerequiredthickness=7.1mm).
soMAPwillbehigherthanMAWPiscorrosionisconsidered.Ifnocorrossionthenbothvaluesaresame.
