To be different
People see you
You only see you
Youre the center of everyones ridicule and admiration
Youre strengths are amplified
But so are your weaknesses
You dont fit in
To be different means pain
And pain means unhappiness
To be different means to stand out
To stand out means to make an impact
Society conditions us to fit in
But Im a misfit
Students joke in class
I take notes
They play 3 on 3 in gym
I shoot hoops alone
They sleep after school
I exercise
They quit when they get home
I just get started
They tell me Im an overachiever
I say Im substandard
They resent taking exams
I see them as opportunities
They say Im a bodybuilder
I say Im just pursuing my passions
They say they just want to be successful
I say I just want to fulfill my destiny
To be different is painful, but pain nourishes the soul.
