ASSIGNMENT:
Data Analysis Project - The goal of this assignment is to give a thoughtful look at your data and determine how you can use it to inform your
instructional decisions. Select one of the following to complete. Please remove any student identifies from the data you share.

CRCT Analysis Provide an analysis of your current students most recent CRCT data.

Pre-Test - Administer a Pre-Test on a unit that will be taught in the next month or six weeks (ideally it would be for the Culminating
Project/Unit for this course). Analyze the data and describe how the data will be used to plan instruction. (PSC Rule 6)

Formative Assessment Administer a formative assessment to monitor student progress. Describe how instruction was adjusted as a
result of the formative assessment. (PSC Rule 6)

Post-Test Administer the post-test. Analyze the results. Describe the next steps for those students who did not meet standards. (PSC
Rule 6)

The 2014 Georgia CRCT results for 5th grade science in my classes are remarkable. In
2014, 95% of my students met or exceeded standards in science compared to 85% in the
county, and 82% in the state. This is significant data; however, what is more revealing is that
80% of my students exceeded on the 2014 CRCT in science, compared to 47% at the county
level and 42% at the state level. This represents a 33% increase over county performance and
38% over state performance on the 5th grade science standards. This outcome is directly
attributable to teaching higher order thinking (metacognitively), differentiation, and engagement

through project/lab based learning investigations. Even with very good CRCT outcomes, there is
a very significant 5% that did not meet standards. All of these scores are from students with
special needs.

I am working with a new co-teacher this year with excellent skills in

differentiation for students who require this level of assistance to learn. I believe that the science
endorsement program, together with a strong co-teaching relationship will further allow us to
bring these numbers up and see all students achieve at the meets and exceeds levels. I do not
have a feeling for how the new Georgia Milestones will factor into this since I anticipate
substantially increased rigor in reading and vocabulary, but I am excited to find out.
