National Training Service Program - Civic Welfare Training Service

REACTION PAPER
NSTP-CWTS served as an eye opener as I become aware of what is happening in our
country through different activities taken throughout the first semester. I have learned about the
Bill of Rights which is essential for us to know what our right is and also for us to be able to
stand up against those who are taking advantage of our ignorance of the law. I also learned about
the good and bad effects of drugs to our society. I think when a person is addicted to drugs, there
is always hope that he can change for the better. It doesnt necessarily mean that his life is over;
life is all about ups and downs. Its not how hard you fell but its how you get up after falling
hard.
There was this activity where we students were tasked to list down the threats of our
national security and explained each of it. I have learned that our country is prone to terrorism
especially since Philippines is an archipelago. Drug cartels make use of our countrys land and
sea network to distribute their products. Human trafficking is a nationwide dilemma. Corruption
greatly contributes to the poverty of our fellow Filipinos. Being aware of these gives us in-depth
knowledge on what are the problems in our society.
One of the values that NSTP-CWTS instilled to me was the sense of volunteerism. We
had a tree planting activity but unfortunately I wasnt able to wake up in time. Its not like I dont
want to plant trees, I just havent had enough sleep. Anyway, we had this cleaning activity prior
to PAASCU Accreditation and we just cleaned rooms and stuffs. Im really excited for our
immersion this coming second semester. I want to be part of the community. I want to interact
with people from different areas. Im expecting that this enhance my total well-being towards
society.
NSTP-CWTS taught me to be a responsible, compassionate, patriotic and loving citizen.
It also taught me that we could make a change. Even the little things count. We are only a tenant
living in this world so we should take care of our environment. By working hand in hand we can
achieve a better world where life is better, where people respect each other and where people
serve as stewards of Gods work.
