If you are applying for approval to teach in NSW public schools you will be recognised to teach on a
permanent basis the following subjects/teaching areas:

Moving From Conditional to Provisional Accreditation


If you complete and are awarded your teacher education program within 12 months of the date of this
accreditation, your accreditation will be changed from Conditional to Provisional. This will affect the
date by which you will need to fulfil the requirements for accreditation at the level of Proficient
Teacher.
You must forward a certified copy of your final transcript to BOSTES. The transcript will need to
clearly indicate that you have been awarded the qualification or that you have fulfilled all requirements
for the award of your qualification.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR ACCREDITATION

1.

You havent listed advice regarding my teaching specialisations

BOSTES doesnt currently do assessments for the following specialist areas: ESL, Special Education,
Teacher Librarianship and Careers. You will need to check with your employer regarding the
requirements for these areas.
2.

You have indicated that I need to complete further study. What does that mean?

BOSTES has done an assessment of your qualifications on behalf of the NSW Department of
Education and Communities requirements for appointment to a permanent teaching position.
You will need to complete the additional study to be eligible for appointment to a permanent
position in the teaching area indicated. Other employers may not require you to complete additional
study.
3.

Does this mean I can only teach in NSW public schools?

No. While we have provided you with specific advice regarding your potential appointment to a
permanent position in public school, you can apply for employment with other employers. Please
note, these employers may have other employment requirements.
4.

Can I now take this document to schools to get casual employment?

You will need to make applications for employment with the employer of your choice. You will need
to provide this letter as part of your application for employment to indicate that you are accredited
with BOSTES.
5.

When do I have to pay my annual accreditation fee?

If you are accredited on or before the 15 September you are liable for the current years fees.
If you are accredited on or after 1 October, you will receive an invoice in December for the following
years fees.
6.

I have full registration interstate. Why does my statement indicate I am only eligible for
provisional or conditional accreditation?

If you currently hold full interstate registration you will need to provide evidence within 60 days
from the date of this letter to ensure your application for Mutual Recognition is considered.
