Rocket Wing Shape And Number of Wings Josh and Ethan

1. 5 controlled variables-

Materials 2. Two pop bottles and lots and lots of duct tape. We will also need some cardboard
for the wings. And I can't forget about the launch pad that is provided. Lastly we will need a
toy army guy and a rubber band.

Procedure 3.
1. First we will need to get our materials listed above.
2.Next we will tape the two bottles together with duct tape.
3. Then find some cardboard and cut out the shape you need for he wing and
how many of them you need.
4. Glue and tape your wings/fins to the bottle rocket.
5. Put the needed amount of water needed in the bottle.
6. Make sure the cap is on top of the bottle
7.Test rocket and record height
8. Repeat steps 3-7 two more times.

Question 4. What design of fins and amount of fins will make the rocket make it go the
furthest?

Prediction 5. We think that the more the wings there are them more stable the rocket will be
and that it will go further in distance

Ethan thinks that a more square wing will stay more stable and go further and Josh thinks and
inclined curve will be more stable and aerodynamic.

Conclusion: The 4 wings went the furthest but the 3 were very similar and close and 6 wings
were not easy to build thus making the rocket spun in and odd way and created some drag.

The inclined curved wings proved to be the best going much further than the others

To Make wings that have a curve first cut out a normal 15 by 11 cm triangle from there make and
concave curve how ever way you'd like Generally 4 wings work best for this but 3 is nearly just as
well.
