Latin I, 4th 9-weeks Project

Directions: Below is a list of choices available to you for your last Latin I
project: choose one of the following. Choose a second project for extra
credit (for up to 20%). No, you cannot to a third or fourth project, just two
maximum.

1. Construct a 3D Roman raeda, cisium, or plaustrum. There are


examples of these in the classroom.

2. Draw (and have on either foamboard or a tri-fold display) a


breakdown of how a typical Roman Via is constructed. Also, have a
map of Italy on there labeling the following roads, and there start/stop
cities: Via Appia, Via Flaminia, Via Aemilia, Via Aurelia, Via Trajana,
Via Cassia, and Via Salaria.

3. Construct a shoebox model of a Roman caupona. Turn the box on its


side and portray the inside of a typical inn, including furnishings and
graffiti.

4. Draw a map that includes Greece, Italy, Sicily, North Africa (in other
words the western Mediterranean) and draw Pyrrhus of Epirus’
invasion in 280 into Italy, then Sicily, then Italy and home. Use your
textbook and outside sources for additional information. You must
color Roman controlled territory and also have the following: the
Apennine Mountains, Mt. Etna, Syracuse, Carthage, Rome, Tarentum,
the battle locations of Heraclea, Ausculum, and Beneventum.
