To set your calculator to use scientific notation:
Press MODE , then highlight SCI on first line. Press ENTER , then 2nd QUIT

(6 + 3 1)!
Combinations: To compute you need to enter: (6+3-1) nCr 6:
6!(3 1)!

Type (6 + 3 1)
Press MATH
Scroll to PRB
Choose 3. nCr
Type 6 and press ENTER

TI-89 and relatives:

To set your calculator to use scientific notation:

Use arrow keys to move down to Exponential Format
Press right arrow key
Choose 2: SCIENTIFIC
Press ENTER to save
(6 + 3 1)!
Combinations: To compute you need to enter: nCr((6+3-1),6)
6!(3 1)!

Press MATH (this is 2nd 5 )

Choose 7. Probability
Choose 3. nCr
Type (6 + 3 1), 6 ) and press ENTER
