seek new sources of renewable energy, Russula The group has presented solutions to the energy use of landfill sites controlled by biogas generated with the acc umulation and fermentation of urban waste. Projects to generate electricity with biogas from landfills, promote the use of gas as a renewable energy source, whi ch certainly represents one of the fastest ways and cheaper deployment of altern ative sources of electric and thermal energy. GROUP Russula, with extensive expe rience in cogeneration of energy, this highly qualified to provide complete coge neration power plants through landfill gas: basic and detailed design for the ca pture and use of biogas, supply of equipment, assemblies and management. SOLID WASTE GENERATION X GENERATION OF ELECTRIC POWER Each person generates abou t 1.6 kg of garbage per day, nearly 0.6 tons of garbage a year. Much of this was te is deposited in landfills not controlled, or even deposited in an open and de void of any treatment, causing contamination of soils and waters, the air releas e of huge amounts of methane gas harmful to health, spread of diseases as well e nvironment conducive to rats. Appropriate management for this waste would be dep osited in controlled landfills, which ensures full impermiabilização soil, wat er treatment, treatment of odors and ultimately capture the biogas which is prod uced by fermentation and decomposition of garbage, eliminating the risks explosi ons and contamination. Because the composition of this gas to be approximately 5 0% methane (the main component of natural gas) is a valuable source of energy. T herefore the management of waste done in controlled landfills with gas capture, provides two uses for this biogas: the burning in the atmosphere (without energy recovery), or the burning of biogas generators of electricity, which represents a highly recipe profitable. Besides the environmental and financial benefits to the city, there are others such as jobs related to design, installation, operat ion and maintenance of the complex. The generation of biogas depends directly on : - Composition of urban waste (residential, industrial, biomass, organic ..) - Volume of urban waste deposited in landfill; - Operational procedures (recycling) - Size of the landfill, topography, technol ogy capatação biogas.
