INQUIRY
 Person who uses the inquiry approach tries to
discover something that is new to himself .
 Children are able to use the inquiry approaches
when they are given:
 Hand-on learning opportunities
 Suitable material they can manipulates
 A stimulating problem
 Guidance & sufficient freedom to compare idea
OTHER DEFINITION OF INQUIRY

 Investigative process of a problem


 Thinking creatively and using intuition

 Finding truth or knowledge that requires


thinking critically, making observation, asking
question, doing experiments and stating
conclusion
METHOD OF INQUIRY

 The National Research Council of USA


release the National Science Education
Standard (refer as Standards)
 Standards stating that :
Inquiry into authentic question generated from
student experiences the central strategy for
teaching science
Standards also state scientific inquiry as :

 Inquiry is a step beyond “science as process” in


which student learn skill, such as observation,
inference & experimentation.

 The new vision includes the “process of science”


and requires that students combine processes &
scientific knowledge as they use scientific
reasoning and critical thinking to develop their
understanding of science.
