What is computer hacking?

• Computer hacking is the practice of modifying


computer hardware and software to something
other than the user’s choice.

• It is also defined as a person who is trying to


access a computer or network illegally.

• Computer hacking is most common among


young adults and teenagers, but there are also a
number of older hackers.
Is it ethical ?…

There are two kinds of hackers: the good and the


bad.

 Hacking (White Hat Hackers & Grey Hat


Hackers)

 Cracking (Black hat Hackers)


Does computer hacking provide benefits
to society?
• Many hackers actually have constructed
programs and technological developments.

• Also, computer hacking can be used to search


through a person’s personal computer to find
out who they have been emailing/chatting with,
in the case that someone is killed, kidnapped
etc.
• Businesses can benefit from ethical hacking, and
law enforcement officials can benefit from the
skills and knowledge of convicted hackers.

• Businesses and authorities are starting to allow


hackers to work with them to help eliminate
malicious hacking and improve computer
securities.

• Hackers who are non-malicious and who benefit


the society are also called white hat hackers.
Conclusion

• Hacking can be considered Ethical or unethical


based on the intention of the act

• Also depends on the perspective of the people,


they may consider it as ethical or unethical
