Mory, City Auditor Subject: Report of Integrity Violations involving Austin Energy Administrative Senior ‘The purpose of this report is to inform you of the results of a recent investigation conducted by the City Auditor's Integrity Unit (CATU) regarding alleged integrity violations involving, an Austin Energy (AE) Administrative Senior. In March 2010, the CAIU opened an investigation in response to information obtained during afraud detection project. Specifically, the CATU determined that Maurice Whitfield, AE Administrative Senior, may have been falsifying his payroll records in order to obtain a financial benefit. The evidence we gathered through our investigation, including the employee's own admission, substantiated the allegation. ‘The evidence indicates that Whitfield received an inappropriate financial benefit exceeding $30,000. Whitfield’s actions appear to constitute violations of City Personnel Policy 1 Conditions of Work (B) Employee Conduct and (G) Use of City Resources. In addition, these actions may constitute violations of State law. In accordance with City Ordinance §2-3- ‘5 City Auditor Powers and Duties, the CAIU has forwarded this information to the Travis County District Attomey’s Office.
