Amway Founders Council to Meet in New York City | May 2010
This year, 74 of the top global distributorships qualified for Founders Council by reaching 20 FAA points or Crown Ambassador.
After qualifying for Founders Council, they are asked to attend an “invitation only” event. Last year’s event coincided with the 50th
anniversary events in Ada and Grand Rapids. Founders Council members were treated to concerts, fireworks and receptions and
business meetings with Chairman Steve Van Andel and President Doug DeVos.
This year, Founders Council members will be headed to New York City & amongst other global leaders, Amway India will also have
it’s very own & very first Founders Council members, Mrs & Mr. Harbhajan Braich, attending this prestigious event. Working
together to shape the future of Amway, members and Amway executives will meet to discuss business strategy. These business
meetings are cause for excitement, as they create alignment and shape the future of the business for all distributors and their
experience with Amway.
Of course, the trip will not be all work and no play. There will be plenty of time for shopping, Broadway theatre and sightseeing.
While qualification for this year’s event has passed, we are in the midst of business activity to qualify for next year’s event in the
tropical hotspot, Miami, Florida. Only the very top global distributors will be in attendance. The question is: will you be there?

Welcome to another session of ‘Plain Speak’. Plain Speak believes in
simplifying the Rules relevant to the Amway business to enable the
Amway Business Owners (ABOs) in building an ethical and sustainable
business. On this journey, let us look at the ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy
adopted by the Company with regards to certain significant and
critical issues related to the business. A ‘Zero Tolerance’ would mean
that Company will show no leniency or compassion while dealing
with any ABO who is in violation of the ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy. At
present, there is a ‘Zero Tolerance’ adopted for 3 issues which are:
• Selling and/or making available Amway products for sale
through retail shops
• Business Support Material Policy
• Unauthorized Distributor activity in unopened markets
Let us briefly look at each one of them.
Selling and/or making available Amway products for sale through
retail shops: Amway India markets its products through the direct
selling channel under which the sale of products by an individual
happen in a face-to-face manner with the consumer. This sale takes
place away from a fixed location like a retail shop.
Increase is complaints of our products being displayed and sold from
retail shops prompted us to bring this under the purview of the ‘Zero
Tolerance’. Apart from violating the fundamental principle of Direct
Selling, shop selling by some ABOs also distorts the level playing field
provided to all ABO’s to do business.
We have positioned a tracking mechanism which enables Amway to
identify a product that has been picked up from a shop and track it to
the ABO who has purchased that product from Amway.
As a consequence, till date 93 Distributorships have faced a
termination from the business including the following Pin level

Platinum 8 • Educating a non-ABO about the Amway Opportunity and to
Gold 3 then encourage the prospective ABO to return to his/her native

Business Support Material Policy: Business Support Materials (BSM)
policy covers all products and services, whether produced by an ABO
or by a third party vendor, which are intended to support and assist
the marketing and sale of Amway products/ services as well as the

Amway business opportunity, including (but not limited to)
the following BSM types:
• ABO events/ function/ meeting tickets.
• Books, magazines, brochures, catalogues, newsletters
or any form of printed material , Audio Tapes, CDs,
Video Tapes, VCD, DVD or any other visual form of
material.
• Websites, Web pages, Standing Order forms or any
other digital/ multimedia form of material.
“Third party vendor” for the purpose of this policy shall mean persons
or Companies, other than Amway Corporation and Amway Business
Owners.
The following guidelines apply:
• ABOs can only sell or promote BSM to potential and/or existing
ABOs that have been authorized by Amway.
• All BSM must have the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) clearly
indicated on them. ABOs cannot sell BSM at a price higher than
the MRP printed on the BSM.
• BSM / Events pricing must adhere to the current pricing
guidelines as defined and amended from time to time.
• The prime focus of every BSM sold must be on the core Amway
business. The core Amway business “being defined as the
business of generating business volume on sale of Amway
products, sponsoring and training new and current ABOs.
• A new ABO prior to, or at the time of joining, and for a period of
30 days thereafter cannot be signed up for a Standing Order
BSM Program. During this time, the new ABO can be sold BSM.
The aggregate amount of all such BSM should not exceed 25%
of the cost of joining the Amway business (i.e. not more than
Rs.250/- currently).
Unauthorized Distributor activity in unopened markets: ABOs
considering expanding their businesses internationally must not
conduct unauthorized activities in markets not yet opened by Amway.
“Distributor activity” is defined as any activity which is designed to
promote or build the Amway business and includes the following:
• Visiting an unopened market for purpose of interesting one or
more prospective ABOs in the Amway business.
• Holding meetings (even one-on-one meetings) in a country
prior to the announcement of the launch date/plans.
• Prospecting by websites directed at an unopened market.
In the event that Amway officially launches a new market, the same
shall be announced through official corporate communications and
include relevant information like date of launch, what pre-launch
activity is permitted etc.
 At the recently concluded Face-To-Face meeting held at Kolkata, Team East received the
glittering AOF Rolling Trophy for the Best Region. Some of you would know that team
Kolkata was adjudged the Best Local Implementation Committee for 2009. To receive this
much deserved recognition from the hands of none other than Bill Pinckney, Chairman
of AOF, at the Face to Face meet, must have indeed been an icing on the cake for the
winning team!

Team East and Kolkata, had worked consistently during the year, with numerous events
held in all the states. Everyone contributed to the sterling performance and we at Head
Office could only marvel as they notched up one achievement after the next. Surely, many
children have benefited from the work that has been carried out not just in the East, but
all across the country under the banner of AOF.

It was also that time of the year once again and in Nanhe Chitrakaar, AOF’s annual
painting competition held for the Amway children. This year, too, this competition was
held across the length and breadth of the country. 7000 children – sons and daughters of
ABOs, Amway staffers as well as children from the various institutions and homes where
AOF carries out some of its work exhibited their creativity. This event too meant
enormous work for the AOF back-enders and they have made us proud once again, by
organizing a seamless chain of events.

Team-North donated yet another Ambulance under AOF Banner, this time at Chandigarh.
The ambulance was donated to Bharat Vikaas Parishad, Chandigarh and the services of
this Ambulance would be provided round the clock for the needy in and around
Chandigarh. The Occasion was graced by Mr. Anu Chatrath, the Worshipful Mayor of
Chandigarh as chief guest. This was the eighth ambulance donated by AOF in North. AOF
had earlier donated four ambulances in Punjab, two in Haryana and one in Uttrakahnd.
Team North has been smart off the blocks in 2010, and have held health camps at
Ghaziabad, Rohini, Faridabad, Delhi, Gurgaon, Sonepat, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Allahabad,
Kanpur and Varanasi within a few days of each other.

In this interim, AOF also celebrated Louis Braille Day. This was the 201st Braille centenary
and was held with the partners where AOF has set up computer centres at schools for the
visually challenged. On this day, our partners held Braille reading competition for the
visually challenged children, besides cultural shows by the children themselves.
