Make one copy of the Picture sheet (also p.77). Either put this on an overhead parency or enlarge It so that the pictures can be seen by all members of the class when held up at the front of the class. In class 1 This game is @ memory competition where learners have to make associations between images they see and clues in front of them. 2 Divide the class into groups of three or four and give everyone @ Consequences sheet. Explain that groups can win points by making connections between the half sentences in front of them and remembering things they have been shown. 3 The aim of the game is for groups to complete as man} possible, ina race against other groups the sentences as 4 Tell learners that at the beginning of each round you will show a sheet of pictures for about two or three seconds to the whole class. They then have to make a connection between one of the pictures they can remember and the half sentences in front of them and complete the sentence apprepriately (hypothetical consequence + past action). For example, ould have won [picture of ball missing basketball shot] if he/she hadn't shot ‘As soon as fearners'think they have ari answer, they should shout it out. IF it is correct, their group wins the sentence. Show the pictures again when you think learners are unlikely to make any more connections, 5 The group with the most sentences wins the game. As the game progresses, groups should be able to remember more and more of the pictures each time they are shown and may, therefore, give you more than one correct sentence each time. For weaker classes you might consider showing the pictures for a longer period each time, Key: We would have won if he/she hadn't missed the shot (11) We would have gone swimming if it had been warmer (2) The fire wouldn't have started if you hadn't fft the iron on (6) The dog wouldn't have got cut i you hadn't let the gate open (12) 1 would have believed you if it hadn't been April Fool's Day (10) You wouldn't have burnt if you had put sun cream on (3) You wouldn't have caught a cold it you had put your ccat on (7) The thief wouldn't have got in if you hada left the window open (4) It would have tasted better if you had added salt (8) The neighbours wouldn't have complained if you hadn't played your hifi so loudly (13) The plant wouldn't have died it you had watered it (4) | would have rung if | had had @ phone cara (1) He wouldn't have been caught if he hade' left his fingerprint (5) | would have been here sooner FT adit had 2 tat tyre (8)
