Dr. Jose M. de Mesa—a Catholic
Filipino lay theologian, obtained his
M.A. and Ph.D. in Religious Studies
(1978), done post-doctoral studies at
St. Paul University in Ottawa, Ca-
nada.
He is a professor of Applied System-
atic Theology at De La Salle Univer-
sity. He has lectured widely on this
subject in the Philippines and abroad.
His publications include: In Solida-
rity with the Culture: Studies in Theo-
logical Re-rooting. He has co-
authored Doing Theology: Basic Rea-
lities and Processes and Doing Chris-
tology: the Re-Appropriation of a
Tradition.
