-Students and teacher review initial answers to the warm-up. Students are asked to keep their answers in

-Students are placed in partners to complete an in-depth, teacher-guided comparison of one political map and
one physical map (both of Texas)
-Students complete a “think, pair, share” on the uses and purpose of a physical map. Students complete a
“think, pair, share” on the uses and purpose of a political map.
Students practice answering geography questions using the two types of maps together.
Students apply the information learned in the “explain” portion
Elaborate
-Students are asked to revise their initial warm-up answers: “What do you think are the main differences
between a physical and political map?”
-Students take an exit quiz where they are asked a variety of map skills and content-based questions
pertaining and political and physical maps.
