Green thumbs plan to bring the country life to Callan

The Sydney City Farm group is
holding its first public meeting this
month at Leichhardt Town Hall to
encourage people to support its pro-
posal to establish an eco-living cen-
tre at the site.
The group has the backing of
Leichhardt Council and Friends of
Callan Park.
The proposal includes a cafe, or-
ganic garden, small animals such as
goats and poultry and a petting farm
for children.
The proposal has been authored
by architect Rod Simpson, an ex-
pert on sustainable design and lead-
ing consultant on the Sustainable
Sydney 2030 project.
Group member Carla Thackrah
of Leichhardt said it was the right
time to start a farm at the site.

and Brisbane, as well as overseas.
