A gene is a hereditary material.

A gene can be described as part or a section of a double helical thread like

strand molecule made up of DNA with transcribed sections and regulatory sequences that allows for
transcription.

DNA is made up of a pentose sugar, a nitrogenous base and a phosphate group. The nitrogenous base is at
the center flanked by the pentose sugar and phosphate group. This creates a ladder like structure as units
link together

DNA is a double helical strand therefore for DNA to be replicated the helix has to be opened, this is done
by the enzyme DNA polymerase. DNA polymerase breaks the helix open, free nucleotides are attracted to
the open helixes. Pairing occurs and the open helicase close up creating two new strands.

The nitrogenous base pairs carry the information about development and physiology since they contain
information about protein synthesis.

DNA and RNA are the molecules that determine the basic structural and physical properties of an
organism.

A strand of DNA is copied by mRNA. It attached to the ribosome another RNA, tRNA which carries
proteins to the ribosomes and arranges it according to instructions of the DNA strand.
