A colorful situation

Fenton r. Jones

Block 2
This labs basic objective was to see if the sand and colored sand would react to water.

This labs objective was to see if food coloring would mix with milk.

Hypothesis

I actually believed that both sands would soak up the water. ( that would be the reaction)

Materials

Milk

Pan

Food coloring (4 types)

Soap

Materials

Sand

Blue sand

Container

Water

Observations

Color sand Regular sand

Dry sand-the water ran off sand the sand absorbed the water
sprinkled sand-the sand floats on top the sand sinks to the bottom

Sand under surface- the sand is hard the sand sinked to bottom

And also floating

Questions/Data Analysis

What did you observe when the tooth pick was inserted?

The colors spread apart and reassembled their colors which do not change.

What are the ingredients in milk? What type of molecules does milk contain?

K+fat(saturated and transfat)

Na+ sugar

Ca2+ cholesterol

Protein

Conclusion

In the final outcome of this lab we discovered two things. The first was that colored sand is not
attractable to colored sand. The second is that milk does not conduct with anything else unless it has a
new substance such as soap or dawn. Also the the team was amazed when the colored changed forms
to something larger than what it had once been.
