The new digital desert - the Ugly Truth of Beauty

The beginning of the 21st century gave birth to a new biomorphic architecture – a tradition of
representation of natural forms in human culture. Architecture became a multi disciplinary platform
with the exploration of digital technology and surpass of biological form. This new Bio-digital tectonic
architecture found new alliance with industrial material ideologies, the quality of aesthetics and
fabrication is key to the further development of this.

With the new methodologies emerged in architectural design that exploits the computer as a design
tool, architects are able to mechanize, facilitate and transfer their concepts on various scientific
disciplines into architecture. New generation architects like Santiago Calatrava, Zaha hadid, Gehry, Coop
Himmelb(I) and Foster became the pioneer of this zoomorphic architecture creating graceful and
dynamic structural forms.

The new interface of architecture engaged the architects in exploration of new forms, structure and
textural material enhancement, where the functionality, cost and the surrounding environment is over
dominated by the form and material appearance to establish its iconic dominance.

In this paper I would like to address the ugliness behind the beautiful iconic structures creating a new
unknown hazard by dilapidation the importance of space, function, cost integration with form, material
with the new digital architecture tool as the base of the next generation intervention.
