MACRO ECONOMIC ANALYSIS AND POLICY


Guidelines for the term paper:

1. Whenever the impact of an issue suggested in the topic is studied, it usually means, the
economic impact – in terms of the market (existing, or potential as the case may be), players,
cost vis-à-vis benefit (ex. in schemes such as health insurance, etc.), employment, income, or any
other macro-economic indicator, depending on the context.

2. Wherever applicable, a discussion on the relevant economic concepts, theories, Models and
policies are also the necessary ingredients (example

3. It is difficult to arrive at a uniform or standard format for all the topics, the following format
can be:

Background / introduction to the topic


Context with reference to the country in question
Objectives /scope of the term paper – what you intend to cover
The main body of the text – a detailed analysis of crucial or main issues
Summary and conclusion

4. The term paper should NOT be descriptive, but analytical – by taking into account, relevant
data or information connected to the topic.

5. Reference to the article / report / news items, etc. will be highly useful

6. Use of internet will be highly helpful.

7. Annexures can have tables, charts, graphs, photographs, cartoons, etc. as is applicable

9. The term paper should not exceed 6 pages (neatly typed, ‘Times New Roman’ font size 12,
single space (as in this document)
10. Although this is a group assignment, it is expected that every member of the group
contributes meaningfully to the group’s task.

11. PLAGIARISM IS ILLEGAL AND VIOLATES COPY RIGHTS. It is strongly urged that
sincere attempt should be made by the groups to read, understand, analyse and interpret the
analysis in own words, however simple or elementary it may be. Copy-paste from articles
downloaded from the net is SRTICTLY PROHIBITED. Anti-plagiarism software, which is
installed in our system, will detect the intensity of plagiarism. Suitable penalty will be given
depending on the intensity of plagiarism detected by the software. High intensity of plagiarism
may even lead to negative grades.

12. The term paper should be submitted as soft copy as well as hard copy. Deadlines which have
already been given, apply.
