Figure : Different positions of the receding axis affect the object shape
The shape seen from the front view are drawn in full scale
and constitute the actual surfaces in an oblique projection.
While the side and top views are drawn based on the
receding axis position.
The circles, arcs and curves which are parallel to the oblique
MENU
projection are considered the actual object shapes and
sizes. These shape can be drawn directly using compass
and other drawing tools.
a) Oblique Lines
• The Oblique line are line that E D
are parallel to any oblique
axis. Examples of oblique F I
line AB, BC and BH are
shown in Figure.
MENU
a) Non Oblique Lines C
• Any line that is not parallel G H
to any oblique line. GF and
HI are examples of non-

oblique line.
c) Angle in
Oblique
• An angle on an
object that parallel
to front projection 390

plane is true angle.
MENU
d) Circle in Oblique
• A circle that is
parallel to the front
projection plane is
MENU a circle of actual
size while a circle
on a receding plane
wound appear as
an ellipse.
e) Arcs in Oblique
• An arc which is
parallel to the
projection plane
shows its true size
MENU • Figure shows an
arch are not
parallel to the
projection plane
but parallel to the
receding plane
