Bronx, NY – Assemblyman Jose Rivera first attempted with Governor Pataki to move the
National Guard out of the Kingsbridge Armory and use that space to build more school. “Our
school district is heavily populated” Rivera says. It is of most importance to move the National
Guard to another site, there are plenty of locations. Kingsbridge needs to be developed.
“In 1996, as a Member of the City Council along with Councilwoman June Eisland, we managed
to allocate $30 million to repair the roof of the armory. As our next Governor you have an
opportunity to do something for The Bronx, help us redevelop the Kingsbridge Armory, help us
bring more jobs to The Bronx.” Rivera said. We need development that is sensitive to the needs
of our local businesses and acts as a partner in the economic uplifting of our community.
I hope more people will be willing to join us as we fight for Our Armory. If you would like more
information regarding the Kingsbridge Armory please contact Jasmin Clavasquin or e-mail at
