NEW ENGLISH FROM DAY TO DAY NEW

MONDAY & WEDNESDAY GROUPS

There are lots of ways that you can practise and improve your English. Here are a few ideas:

OUT OF CLASS

• Revise what you did in class

• Reorganise the language you meet in class. It's a good idea to keep a lexical notebook divided into
several sections:
▪ a section organised alphabetically, containing not only the target words but associated
collocations and phrases.
▪ A section organised around themes such as describing people, work, films, etc.
▪ A section organised around 'delexicalised' verbs and nouns such as get, take, point, thing; a
section for phrasal verbs
▪ a section for idioms; and a sectioon for grammatical patterns and structures such as the
present continuous and was/were going to ... but...
• Record complete phrases, collocations and even question/response exchanges
• Translate larger expressions and idioms into an equivalent into your own language.
• Make maximum use of all the extras your coursebook and the Virtual Classroom has to offer:
▪ Student's Book Grammar section with exercises + Key in the VCL
