Angioleiomyoma

 The encapsulated soft tissue tumor is

composed of numerous thick-walled and
thin-walled vessels with perivascular pink
spindle cell proliferation.
 There is no increased mitosis, atypical
mitosis or necrosis.
 The spindle cells are strongly positive for
smooth muscle actin (SMA) suggesting
leiomyomatous nature of the tumor arising
from the vessel walls.
- Solitary subcutaneous or dermal painful tumor of
extremities and head.
- More common in women.

Pathologic findings:
- Well circumscribed nodules composed of smooth muscle.
- Smooth muscle cells of the tumor merges to the smooth
muscle walls of vessels with with varying degree of patency.
- Smooth muscle markers are positive.
- Differential diagnosis: Dermatofibroma, neurofibroma,
dermatomyofibroma
