Team Street Youth Marketing Project Elements

CORE CONCEPTS
 Commitment (self, team, others, community)
 Understanding (self, fundamentals of business, having money/making
money, value of service)
 Professionalism (is a mind-set, forgotten “rules”, making lifelong
customers.)
 Give to Get (no one is self made, easier to give then get, mentorship and
service leadership.)

Skill Set required:


• Experienced adult with a small business work philosophy and a existing
business plan that is simple to implement
• Understanding and appreciation of youth culture
• Strong facilitator/instructor and business mentor
• Proven ability to operate a small youth-driven business that attracts support
from the larger community

TeamStreet (TS) Crew: Four to six middle school students and one or two young
adults.

TS Crew candidate:
• Motivated, teachable and able to commit to core concepts and co-sign a
career-covenant.
• Access to transportation, prompt attendance and natural curiosity for
understanding the value of what it means to be a success in business.
• Parental/Family is supportive and is willing to commit to an active role in the
project.

Earn/Learn Business Overview


TeamStreet candidates are referred by a credible adult/organization and fill out a
basic job application, then each interviews up to two times. Following selection
there is a family orientation for the group that includes completing project
paperwork.

T-Shirt Business
Staff is responsible for marketing to generate business to start out with enough
work for 10 to 15hrs per week. Compensation starts at a bi-weekly stipend of seven
to eight dollars an hour. Each crew member is required to deposit 25% of each
stipend into their personal savings account.

There may be additional opportunities to earn as other business opportunities


develop and the crew will quickly learn that the more referrals + more work hours
provides them with the ability to control their income and savings.
Potential Partners : YMCA /Future Leaders of America, Junior Achievement of
Central Ohio, Donatos Pizza Inc., Dyslexia Institute/Non-profit .

Additional small business opportunities: Lawn-care /leaves/snow. Door-hanging


coupons, book sales (several local authors engaged), work w/ THE BUILDERS’
Workshop on wheels (T. Wayne Gatewood), home repair, moving.
