A major summer event, "Ferragosto" is celebrated in all of Italy on August 15t.. It marks the peak of
summer when everybody is on vacation whether by the beach, mountain destinations or parks. It is a
very ancient pagan holiday that dates back to Roman Emperor Augustus’ time, when he decided that for
one day everybody would stop work (Feriae Augusti-Ferragosto), including animals, to celebrate the end
of major agricultural season.
