I believe it is edu-
cation, the right kind of education that will provide the solution, the right
kind of education that goes beyond classrooms and textbooks.
Those living in the West need to comprehend why the East is rising so rap-
idly and how this is going to influence global trends in economics and
other areas of our lives. They also have to comprehend that democracy is
interpreted and applied in ways that are culturally acceptable to people in
other countries. That one size does not fit all and you cannot force a peo-
ple to adopt an alien way of life, albeit it is democratic.
The East is a bewildering mixture of cultures, each is unique, each is dif-
ferent and each is rich in traditions passed down centuries.
To those living in the East, the ways of the West are very important in
understanding the intricacy of the politics that dictate economic trends
and indicate the shift of powers.
“The cultural differences may not be acceptable but they must be tolerat-
ed for the sake of peaceful co-existence.
We must make the attempt to know more about other cultures, because if
we don’t we will actually spend our working lives knowing only half the
story and seeing only half the picture. We need to interact so we can appre-
ciate different viewpoints so we become tolerant of customs and traditions
that are alien to our own beliefs.
Young people of today have the opportunity to decide whether history
should repeat itself in such disastrous ways. It can be changed. I have
tremendous faith in the young people of today. I am convinced that they
will be that force that will build a better, more peaceful world.”
Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Limkokwing

We are empowering the world’s next generation
through a new kind of cross-border learning that
gives access to Limkokwing campuses in three con-
tinents – Asia, Europe and Africa. The Limkokwing
Global Classroom programme enables students to
soak up new and enriching experiences in preparation
for career success in a globalised working environment.
A student of this programme will learn to appreciate
the uniqueness of different cultures and traditions and
develop a broader and more sophisticated view of the world.
Exposure to other ways of life expands the mind enabling the
student to be more creative and productive because more
resources will become available for problem solving.
Appreciation of other cultures will help the student develop respect for other
people which in turn will result in
healthier relationships.

“The Limkokwing University of Creative Technology has been a trailblazer for
Malaysian education. From a small beginning, it has grown from strength to
strength to become what it is today: a truly internationally recognised Malaysian
brand name that has educated students from 100 countries. It is, therefore, not
surprising that Limkokwing University will become the first Malaysian institution
of higher learning to open a branch campus in London. I am excited at the merging
of the best and brightest from the East and West. It is my hope that such an exchange
will produce a burst of creativity and innovation that will illuminate our future. I
also hope that this cross-pollination will give rise to greater understanding and empathy
between cultures and civilizations - qualities that are sorely needed in today’s world.”
