PREAMBLE of the 1987 Constitution

Origin :
‡ Greek word PREAMBULARE ‡ Meaning: ³ to walk before´ ‡ USES: 1. Basically the prelude to the written Constitution 2. It is the conventional introduction to the organic law of the land.

PURPOSES:
1. To establish the fundamental values and ideals which the people keep so high; 2. To institutionalize the framework or devices for ensuring that those aspirations are achieved, promoted and respected.

The Preamble
We, the sovereign Filipino people, imploring the aid of Almighty God, in order to build a just and humane society and to establish a government shall embody our ideals and aspirations, promote the common good, conserve and develop our patrimony, and secure to ourselves and our posterity the the blessings of independence and democracy under the rule of law and a regime of Truth, Justice, Freedom, Love, Equality and Peace, do ordain and promulgate this Constitution.
