Webitorial - February 2011

It’s Show time! Yes, the Newark Show has finally arrived – or at least it will do on the weekend of
February 26th & 27th.
Target Shooter will of course be represented so please come along, have a chat, tell us what you
think about the magazine and how we can make it better. Hopefully we will have a few of the rifles
that have featured in the magazine and we’ll also have Laurie Holland on the stand, so it will be a
great opportunity to quiz Laurie about all your reloading and ballistics queries.
Please, try and make the effort to attend the Show. Last year was my first visit and I had a really
full day, not just looking round the stands but bumping into old friends and stocking up on all those
goodies you don’t normally find in your local gunshop. Let’s make this Show grow year on year –
British shooters deserve it!
On a more serious note, we are now beginning to pick up on just how the Cumbria shooting may
affect our sport. A long list of recommendations is before Parliament and some of them are sure
to become law. For certain, it will be an opportunity to ask shooters to pay more for our Firearm
Certificates and all shotguns may be re-classified as Section 1 firearms. Although this will not be
popular with shotgunners, if you are also an FAC holder it will surely simplify matters. The lower
age limit for holding a Certificate and owning a firearm are likely to be addressed but hopefully air
weapons will escape further un-necessary legislation. The suggestion of involving the medical
profession seems less likely to go ahead, which is a relief, considering the regularity with which the
NHS lose patients’ records.
But, let’s put aside the ‘doom and gloom’ for a while and enjoy the Show.

New from Lapua
The ScenarL Bullet
The First Choice For Serious Target Competition
We at Lapua have never been content to rest on our laurels. We have recently undertaken a
major program to make our outstanding bullets even more accurate. Not a redesign in
ballistics, but a refinement in all manufacturing steps. Using our state of the art
manufacturing capabilities and decades of competitive experience, we have set out to
tighten all measures and requirements, including our already famous quality control
standards. Closer weight tolerances, tighter jacket wall concentricity standards, and greater
uniformity in every dimension, starting from the gilding metal cup, lead wire and jacket
forming, ending up to core-jacket assembly, boat tail pressing and tipping. Several new
proprietary machines, manufacturing steps and advanced instrumentations combined to the
ScenarL manufacturing line never seen before in bullet production. We also took our
already high quality control standards and kicked them up a notch.

This new generation of match bullets has been dubbed the ScenarL, and is a fitting
successor to the vaunted Scenar family. Sharing the same aerodynamic profiles as their
predecessors, the ScenarL are the perfect choice for any type of competitive shooting.
Whether it’s ISSF or CISM, Benchrest or F-Class, Silhouette, High Power Across the
Course or Long Range, the new ScenarL line will give you the extra edge that takes you to
the winners circle. Based on the Scenar’s proven track record of competitive successes,
Lapua’s new ScenarL will deliver the ultimate performance in the most demanding
competitive environments every time. Precision craftsmanship, painstaking quality control
standards, state of the art manufacturing technology and advanced ballistic design all
combine to make the new ScenarL the very best of the best!

First ScenarL is now available, the 6mm 105gr ScenarL.

The New Lapua260 Remington

With the .260 already a favorite of demanding competitive shooters, Lapua sets the standard even
higher with the introduction of our new .260 brass. Superior Lapua metallurgy, outstanding uni-
formity and durability combine with our meticulous quality control to make this case the obvious
choice for those requiring the ultimate in performance
