The opening sequence of munhunter is only one minute forty long
and doesn’t give much of the plot away. For this time the audience is made to feel confused and unsure what is happening this is done by the use of how the shots have been edited and how there is little connection between the audiences point of focus and its point in the film. Through the use of the four technical aspects the audience is still made to feel uncomfortable and a sense of dread is felt throughout. The setting of an average home is used to add further to the uncomfortable feeling felt by the audience making a normally safe environment seem dark and creepy. The confusing nature also generates enigma and draws the audience in to watch to rest of the film. The shaky handheld camera helps to add a touch of reality and makes the scenario seem more believable. Point of view shot is used to build up character and help add to the eerie and dark feeling. The lighting of the torch is used to help create the enigma and draw the audience in to what is going on. A long take is used to make the audience feel un comfortable. The gritty music used throughout the sequence prepares help to set scene and prepares the audience for the disturbing nature of the film. Despite the film being cross genre the opening sequence makes it clear that the audience is watching a thriller.
