Our Lord! Accept (this

service) from us: For Rabbana taqabbal minna
‫ك أَ ْنتَ ال َّس ِمي ُع ال َعلِي ُم‬
َ َّ‫َربَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ ِمنَّا إِن‬
1. Thou art the All-Hearing, innaka antas Sameeaul

the All-knowing Aleem
[2:127]

Our Lord! Make of us

Muslims, bowing to Thy
(Will), and of our progeny
Rabbana wa-j'alna
a people Muslim, bowing
Muslimayni laka ma min
to Thy (will); and show us ‫ك َو ِمن ُذ ِّريَّتِنَا‬ َ َ‫َربَّنَا َواجْ َع ْلنَا ُم ْسلِ َمي ِْن ل‬
Dhurriyatina 'Ummatan
our place for the ْ‫أُ َّمةً ُّم ْسلِ َمةً لَّكَ َوأَ ِرنَا َمنَا ِس َكنَا َوتُب‬
2. Muslimatan laka wa
celebration of (due) rites; ‫ك أَنتَ التَّوَّابُ ال َّر ِحي ُم‬ َ َّ‫َعلَ ْينَآ إِن‬
'Arina Manasikana wa tub
and turn unto us (in [128: ‫]البقرة‬
'alayna 'innaka 'antat-
Mercy); for Thou art the
Tawwabu-Raheem
Oft-Returning, Most
Merciful

Our Lord! Grant us good

in this world and good in Rabbana atina fid-dunya
the hereafter, and save us hasanatan wa fil 'akhirati ِ ‫َربَّنَا آتِنَا فِي ال ُّد ْنيَا َح َسنَةً َوفِي‬
‫اآلخ َر ِة‬

‫ار‬ َ ‫َح َسنَةً َوقِنَا َع َذ‬
ِ َّ‫اب الن‬

the fire 'adhaban-nar

Our Lord! Bestow on us

endurance, make our Rabbana afrigh 'alayna
‫ِّت أَ ْقدَا َمنَا‬
ْ ‫صبْراً َوثَب‬ َ ‫َربَّنَا أَ ْف ِر ْغ َعلَ ْينَا‬
foothold sure, and give us sabran wa thabbit
4. َ‫َوانصُرْ نَا َعلَى القَوْ ِم ال َكافِ ِرين‬
help against the aqdamana wansurna 'alal-
[250: ‫]البقرة‬
disbelieving folk qawmil-kafirin
[2:250]

Our Lord! Condemn us

not if we forget or fall into Rabbana la tu'akhidhna ‫َربَّنَا الَ تُ َؤا ِخ ْذنَا إِن نَّ ِسينَا أَوْ أَ ْخطَأْنَا‬

Our Lord! Lay not on us a Rabbana wala tahmil ُ‫َربَّنَا َوالَ تَحْ ِملْ َعلَ ْينَا إِصْ رًا َك َما َح َم ْلتَه‬

burden Like that which alayna isran kama ‫َعلَى الَّ ِذينَ ِمن قَ ْبلِنَا‬
 Thou didst lay on those
hamaltahu 'alal-ladheena
before us [286: ‫]البقرة‬
min qablina
[2:286]

Our Lord! Lay not on us a

burden greater than we
have strength to bear. Blot
out our sins, and grant us
forgiveness. Have mercy
7.
on us. Thou art our
Protector; Help us against
those who stand against
faith
[2:286]
Rabbana wala
tuhammilna ma la taqata ‫ ِه‬HHHHHHِ‫ةَ لَنَا ب‬HHHHHHَ‫َربَّنَا َوالَ تُ َح ِّم ْلنَا َما الَ طَاق‬
lana bihi wa'fu anna َ‫رْ لَنَا َوارْ َح ْمنَا أَنت‬HHHHِ‫فُ َعنَّا َوا ْغف‬HHHHْ‫َواع‬
waghfir lana wairhamna َ‫َموْ الَنَا فَانصُرْ نَا َعلَى ْالقَوْ ِم ْال َكافِ ِرين‬
anta mawlana fansurna [286: ‫]البقرة‬
'alal-qawmil kafireen

Our Lord! (they say), Let

not our hearts deviate
now after Thou hast Rabbana la tuzigh
guided us, but grant us quloobana ba'da idh ْ‫َربَّنَا الَ تُ ِز ْغ قُلُوبَنَا بَ ْع َد إِ ْذ هَ َد ْيتَنَا َوهَب‬
8. mercy from Thine own hadaytana wa hab lana ُ‫ك أَنتَ ْال َوهَّاب‬ َ َّ‫ك َرحْ َمةً إِن‬ َ ‫لَنَا ِمن لَّدُن‬
Presence; for Thou art the milladunka rahmah [8: ‫]آل عمران‬
Grantor of bounties innaka antal Wahhab
without measure
[3:8]

Our Lord! Thou art He

that will gather mankind
Rabbana innaka
Together against a day
jami'unnasi li-Yawmil la َ ‫اس لِيَوْ ٍم الَّ َري‬
‫ْب فِي ِه‬ ِ َّ‫َربَّنَا إِنَّكَ َجا ِم ُع الن‬
9. about which there is no ‫إِ َّن هّللا َ الَ ي ُْخلِفُ ْال ِمي َعا َد‬
rayba ri innAllaha la
doubt; for Allah never [9: ‫]آل عمران‬
yukhliful mi'aad
fails in His promise.
[3:9]

Our Lord! We have indeed

believed: forgive us, then,
our sins, and save us from Rabbana innana amanna ‫َربَّنَا إِنَّنَا آ َمنَّا فَا ْغفِرْ لَنَا ُذنُوبَنَا َوقِنَا‬
10. the agony of the Fire faghfir lana dhunuubana ِ َّ‫اب الن‬
‫ار‬ َ ‫َع َذ‬
[3:16] wa qinna 'adhaban-Naar [16: ‫]آل عمران‬

11. Our Lord! We believe in Rabbana amanna bima ‫ت َواتَّبَ ْعنَا ال َّرسُو َل‬ْ َ‫َربَّنَا آ َمنَّا بِ َما أَنزَ ل‬
what Thou hast revealed, anzalta wattaba 'nar- ِ َ ‫فَا ْكتُ ْبنَا َم َع ال َّشا ِه ِد‬
‫ين‬
and we follow the Rusula fak-tubna ma'ash- [53: ‫]آل عمران‬
Messenger. Then write us Shahideen
down among those who
 bear witness
[3:53]

Our Lord! Forgive us our

sins and anything We may
Rabbana-ghfir lana
have done that ‫ربَّنَا ا ْغفِرْ لَنَا ُذنُوبَنَا َوإِس َْرافَنَا فِي أَ ْم ِرنَا‬
dhunuubana wa israfana
transgressed our duty: ‫ِّت أَ ْقدَا َمنَا وانصُرْ نَا َعلَى ْالقَوْ ِم‬ْ ‫َوثَب‬
12. fi amrina wa thabbit ْ
Establish our feet firmly,
aqdamana wansurna 'alal
‫ين‬ِ َ ‫ال َكافِ ِر‬
and help us against those [147: ‫]آل عمران‬
qawmil kafireen
that resist Faith
[3:147]

Our Lord! Not for naught

Hast Thou created (all)
Rabbana ma khalaqta ‫َربَّنَا َما َخلَ ْقتَ هَذا بَا ِطالً ُس ْب َحانَكَ فَقِنَا‬
this! Glory to Thee! Give

us salvation from the
hadha batila Subhanaka ِ َّ‫اب الن‬
‫ار‬ َ ‫َع َذ‬
faqina 'adhaban-Naar [191: ‫]آل عمران‬
penalty of the Fire
[3:191]

Our Lord! Any whom

Thou dost admit to the
Rabbana innaka man
Fire, Truly Thou coverest ُ‫ك َمن تُ ْد ِخ ِل النَّا َر فَقَ ْد أَ ْخ َز ْيتَه‬
َ َّ‫َربَّنَا إِن‬
tudkhilin nara faqad َ َّ
14. with shame, and never
akhzaytah wa ma liDh-
‫ار‬
ٍ ‫نص‬ َ ‫َو َما لِلظالِ ِمينَ ِم ْن أ‬
will wrong-doers Find any [192: ‫]آل عمران‬
dhalimeena min ansar
helpers!
[3:192]

Our Lord! We have heard

the call of one calling (Us) Rabbana innana sami'na ْ َ
to Faith, 'Believe ye in the munadiyany-yunadi lil- ِ ِ‫َّربَّنَا إِنَّنَا َس ِم ْعنَا ُمنَا ِديًا يُنَا ِدي ل‬
‫إلي َما ِن أن‬
15. ْ ُ‫آ ِمن‬
‫وا بِ َربِّ ُك ْم فَآ َمنَّا‬
Lord,' and we have imani an aminu bi
[193: ‫]آل عمران‬
believed. Rabbikum fa'aamanna
[3:193]

Our Lord! Forgive us our

sins, blot out from us our
iniquities, and take to
16.
Thyself our souls in the
company of the righteous
[3:193]
Rabbana faghfir lana
‫َربَّنَا فَا ْغفِرْ لَنَا ُذنُوبَنَا َو َكفِّرْ َعنَّا َسيِّئَاتِنَا‬
dhunoobana wa kaffir
'ana sayyi'aatina wa ِ ‫َوتَ َوفَّنَا َم َع األب َْر‬
‫ار‬
[193: ‫]آل عمران‬
tawaffana ma'al Abrar

17. Our Lord! Grant us what Rabbana wa 'atina ma َ‫ك َوال‬ َ ِ‫َربَّنَا َوآتِنَا َما َوعَدتَّنَا َعلَى ُر ُسل‬
Thou didst promise unto wa'adtana 'ala rusulika wa ‫تُ ْخ ِزنَا يَوْ َم ْالقِيَا َم ِة إِنَّكَ الَ تُ ْخلِفُ ال ِمي َعاد‬
ْ
us through Thine la tukhzina yawmal- [194: ‫]آل عمران‬
apostles, and save us from Qiyamah innaka la
shame on the Day of tukhliful mi'aad
Judgment: For Thou
 never breakest Thy
promise
[3:194]

Our Lord! We believe;

Rabbana aamana
write us down among the َ‫َربَّنَا آ َمنَّا فَا ْكتُ ْبنَا َم َع ال َّشا ِه ِدين‬
18. faktubna ma' ash-
witnesses. [83: ‫]المائدة‬
shahideen
[5:83]

O Allah our Lord! Send us

from heaven a table set
(with viands), that there
Rabbana anzil 'alayna
may be for us - for the
first and the last of us - a
ma'idatam minas-Samai ُ‫نزلْ َعلَ ْينَا َمآئِ َدةً ِّمنَ ال َّس َماء تَ ُكون‬ ِ َ‫َربَّنَا أ‬
tuknu lana 'idal li-awwa- َ ‫لَنَا ِعيداً أِّل َ َّولِنَا َوآ ِخ ِرنَا َوآيَةً ِّمن‬
‫ك‬
19. solemn festival and a sign
from thee; and provide for
lina wa aakhirna wa ِ ‫َوارْ ُز ْقنَا َوأَنتَ َخ ْي ُر الر‬
َ‫َّازقِين‬
ayatam-minka war-zuqna [114: ‫]المائدة‬
our sustenance, for thou
wa anta Khayrul-Raziqeen
art the best Sustainer (of
our needs)
[5:114]

Our Lord! We have

wronged our own souls: If
Rabbana zalamna
thou forgive us not and ‫َربَّنَا ظَلَ ْمنَا أَنفُ َسنَا َوإِن لَّ ْم تَ ْغفِرْ لَنَا‬
anfusina wa il lam taghfir
20. bestow not upon us Thy
lana wa tarhamna lana ِ ‫َوتَرْ َح ْمنَا لَنَ ُكون ََّن ِمنَ ْالخ‬
َ‫َاس ِرين‬
Mercy, we shall certainly [23: ‫]األعراف‬
kuna minal-khasireen
be lost.
[7:23]

Our Lord! Send us not to

the company of the
wrong-doers Rabbana la taj'alna ma'al َ‫َربَّنَا الَ تَجْ َع ْلنَا َم َع ْالقَوْ ِم الظَّالِ ِمين‬
21.
[7:47] qawwmi-dhalimeen [47: ‫]األعراف‬

Our Lord! Decide Thou

between us and our Rabbana afrigh bayana wa َ‫ق َوأَنت‬
ِّ ‫َربَّنَا ا ْفتَحْ بَ ْينَنَا َوبَ ْينَ قَوْ ِمنَا بِ ْال َح‬
22. people in truth, for Thou bayna qawmina bil haqqi َ‫َخ ْي ُر ْالفَاتِ ِحين‬
art the best to decide. wa anta Khayrul Fatiheen [89: ‫]األعراف‬
[7:89]

23. Our Lord! Pour out on us Rabbana afrigh 'alayna َ ‫َربَّنَا أَ ْف ِر ْغ َعلَ ْينَا‬
َ‫ص ْبرًا َوتَ َوفَّنَا ُم ْسلِ ِمين‬
patience and constancy, sabraw wa tawaffana [126: ‫]األعراف‬
and take our souls unto Muslimeen
thee as Muslims (who
bow to thy will)!
 [7:126]

Our Lord! Make us not a

trial for those who Rabbana la taj'alna
practise oppression; And firnatal lil-qawmidh- ; َ‫َربَّنَا الَ تَجْ َع ْلنَا فِ ْتنَةً لِّ ْلقَوْ ِم الظَّالِ ِمين‬
24. deliver us by Thy Mercy Dhalimeen wa najjina bi- َ‫ك ِمنَ ْالقَوْ ِم ْال َكافِ ِرين‬ َ ِ‫َونَ ِّجنَا بِ َرحْ َمت‬
from those who reject Rahmatika minal qawmil [86-85: ‫]يونس‬
(Thee) kafireen
[10:85-86]

O our Lord! Truly Thou

dost know what we
Rabbana innaka ta'iamu
conceal and what we ‫َربَّنَا إِنَّكَ تَ ْعلَ ُم َما نُ ْخفِي َو َما نُ ْعلِنُ َو َما‬
ma nukhfi wa ma nu'lin
25.
reveal: for nothing
wa ma yakhfa 'alal-lahi ِ ْ‫يَ ْخفَى َعلَى هّللا ِ ِمن َش ْي ٍء فَي األَر‬
‫ض‬
whatever is hidden from ‫َوالَ فِي ال َّس َماء‬
min shay'in fil-ardi wa la
Allah, whether on earth or [38: ‫]إبرهيم‬
fis-Sama'
in heaven
[14:38]

O our Lord! And accept

Rabbana wa taqabbal ‫َربَّنَا َوتَقَبَّلْ ُدعَاء‬
26. my Prayer.
Du'a [40: ‫]إبرهيم‬
[14:40]

O our Lord! Cover (us)

with Thy Forgiveness -
Rabbana ghfir li wa li
me, my parents, and (all) ‫ي َولِ ْل ُم ْؤ ِمنِينَ يَوْ َم‬َّ ‫َربَّنَا ا ْغفِرْ لِي َولِ َوالِ َد‬
wallidayya wa lil
27. Believers, on the Day that ُ‫يَقُو ُم ْال ِح َساب‬
Mu'mineena yawma
the Reckoning will be [41: ‫]إبرهيم‬
yaqumul hisaab
established!
[14:41]

Our Lord! Bestow on us

Rabbana 'atina mil-
Mercy from Thyself, and ‫ك َرحْ َمةً َوهَيِّئْ لَنَا ِم ْن‬ َ ‫َربَّنَا آتِنَا ِمن لَّدُن‬
ladunka Rahmataw wa
28. dispose of our affair for us ‫أَ ْم ِرنَا َر َشدًا‬
hayya lana min amrina
in the right way! [10: ‫]الكهف‬
rashada
[18:10]

Our Lord! We fear lest he

hasten with insolence Rabbana innana nakhafu ‫َربَّنَا إِنَّنَا نَخَافُ أَن يَ ْف ُرطَ َعلَ ْينَا أَوْ أَن‬
29. against us, or lest he any-yafruta 'alayna aw ‫طغَى‬ ْ َ‫ي‬
transgress all bounds any-yatgha [45: ‫]طه‬
[20: 45]

Our Lord! We believe; Rabbana amanna faghfir ‫َربَّنَا آ َمنَّا فَا ْغفِرْ لَنَا َوارْ َح ْمنَا َوأَنتَ َخ ْي ُر‬
30. then do Thou forgive us, lana warhamna wa anta َ‫الرَّا ِح ِمين‬
and have mercy upon us: khayrur Rahimiin [109: ‫]المؤمنون‬
 For Thou art the Best of
those who show mercy
[23: 109]

Our Lord! Avert from us

the Wrath of Hell, for its Rabbanas-rif 'anna
‫اب َجهَنَّ َم إِ َّن‬
َ ‫ف َعنَّا َع َذ‬ ْ ‫َربَّنَا اصْ ِر‬
Wrath is indeed an 'adhaba jahannama inna
‫اءت ُم ْستَقَ ًّرا‬ ْ ‫َع َذابَهَا َكانَ َغ َرا ًما إِنَّهَا َس‬
31. affliction grievous,- Evil 'adhabaha kana gharama
‫َو ُمقَا ًما‬
indeed is it as an abode, innaha sa'at musta-
[66-65: ‫]الفرقان‬
and as a place to rest in. qarranw wa muqama
[25: 65-66]

O my Lord! Grant unto us

wives and offspring who Rabbana Hablana min
will be the comfort of our azwaajina wadhurriy- َ‫َربَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا ِم ْن أَ ْز َوا ِجنَا َو ُذرِّ يَّاتِنَا قُ َّرة‬
32. eyes, and give us (the yatina, qurrata 'ayioni wa- ‫أَ ْعيُ ٍن َواجْ َع ْلنَا لِ ْل ُمتَّقِينَ إِ َما ًما‬
grace) to lead the jalna lil-muttaqeena [74: ‫]الفرقان‬
righteous Imaama
[25:74]

Our Lord is indeed Oft-

Forgiving Ready to
appreciate (service)
[35: 34] Rabbana la Ghafurun ‫َربَّنَا لَ َغفُو ٌر َش ُكو ٌر‬
33.
shakur [34: ‫]فاطر‬

Our Lord! Thy Reach is

over all things, in Mercy
and Knowledge. Forgive, Rabbana wasi'ta kulla ً‫آ َمنُوا َربَّنَا َو ِسعْتَ ُك َّل َش ْي ٍء رَّحْ َمة‬
then, those who turn in sha'ir Rahmatanw wa ََ ‫َو ِع ْل ًما فَا ْغفِرْ لِلَّ ِذينَ تَابُوا َواتَّبَعُوا َسبِيل‬
‫ك‬
34. Repentance, and follow 'ilman faghfir lilladhina
‫اب ْال َج ِح ِيم‬
َ ‫َوقِ ِه ْم َع َذ‬
Thy Path; and preserve tabu wattaba'u sabilaka
[7: ‫]غافر‬
them from the Penalty of waqihim 'adhabal-Jahiim
the Blazing Fire!
[40:7]

35. And grant, our Lord! that Rabbana wa adhkhilum ‫ت َع ْد ٍن الَّتِي َوعَدتَّهُم‬ ِ ‫َربَّنَا َوأَ ْد ِخ ْلهُ ْم َجنَّا‬
they enter the Gardens of Jannati 'adninil-lati ‫اج ِه ْم‬ ْ َ
ِ ‫صلَ َح ِم ْن آبَائِ ِه ْم َوأز َو‬ َ ‫َو َمن‬
Eternity, which Thou hast wa'attahum wa man ‫ك أَنتَ ْال َع ِزي ُز ْال َح ِكي ُم َوقِ ِه ُم‬ َ َّ‫َو ُذ ِّريَّاتِ ِه ْم إِن‬
promised to them, and to salaha min aba'ihim wa ‫ذ فَقَ ْد‬Hٍ ِ‫ت يَوْ َمئ‬ ِ ‫َق ال َّسيِّئَا‬
ِ ‫ت َو َمن ت‬ ِ ‫ال َّسيِّئَا‬
the righteous among their azajihim wa ‫ك هُ َو ْالفَوْ ُز ْال َع ِظي ُم‬ َ ِ‫َر ِح ْمتَهُ َو َذل‬
fathers, their wives, and dhuriyyatihim innaka [9-8: ‫]غافر‬
their posterity! For Thou antal 'Azizul-Hakim,
 art (He), the Exalted in
Might, Full of Wisdom.
And preserve them from
(all) ills; and any whom waqihimus sayyi'at wa
Thou dost preserve from man taqis-sayyi'ati
ills that Day,- on them yawma'idhin faqad
wilt Thou have bestowed rahimatahu wa dhalika
Mercy indeed: and that huwal fawzul-'Adheem
will be truly (for them) the
highest Achievement.
[40:8-9]

Our Lord! Forgive us, and

our brethren who came
Rabbana-ghfir lana wa li
before us into the Faith, ‫َربَّنَا ا ْغفِرْ لَنَا وَإِل ِ ْخ َوانِنَا الَّ ِذينَ َسبَقُونَا‬
'ikhwani nalladhina
and leave not, in our َ‫بِاإْل ِ ي َما ِن َواَل تَجْ َعلْ فِي قُلُوبِنَا ِغاًّل لِّلَّ ِذين‬
36. sabaquna bil imani wa la
hearts, rancour (or sense ‫آ َمنُوا‬
taj'al fi qulubina ghillal-
of injury) against those [10: ‫]الحشر‬
lilladhina amanu
who have believed.
[59:10]

Our Lord! Thou art

indeed Full of Kindness, Rabbana innaka Ra'ufur ‫َّحي ٌم‬
ِ ‫ُوف ر‬ َ َّ‫َربَّنَا إِن‬
ٌ ‫ك َرؤ‬
37.
Most Merciful. Rahim [10: ‫]الحشر‬
[59:10]

Our Lord! In Thee do we

trust, and to Thee do we Rabbana 'alayka َ ‫ك أَنَ ْبنَا َوإِلَ ْي‬
‫ك‬ َ ‫ك تَ َو َّك ْلنَا َوإِلَ ْي‬
َ ‫َّربَّنَا َعلَ ْي‬
38. turn in repentance: to tawakkalna wa-ilayka ‫صي ُر‬ ِ َ‫م‬ ْ
‫ال‬
Thee is (our) Final Goal anabna wa-ilaykal masir [4: ‫]الممتحنة‬
[60:4]

Our Lord! Make us not a

(test and) trial for the Rabbana la taj'alna
Unbelievers, but forgive fitnatal lilladhina kafaru ْ‫َربَّنَا اَل تَجْ َع ْلنَا فِ ْتنَةً لِّلَّ ِذينَ َكفَرُوا َوا ْغفِر‬
39. us, our Lord! for Thou art waghfir lana Rabbana ‫ك أَنتَ ْال َع ِزي ُز ْال َح ِكي ُم‬َ َّ‫لَنَا َربَّنَا إِن‬
the Exalted in Might, the innaka antal 'Azizul- [5: ‫]الممتحنة‬
Wise. Hakim
[60:5]

Our Lord! Perfect our

Rabbana atmim lana
Light for us, and grant us
nurana waighfir lana
َ َّ‫ورنَا َوا ْغفِرْ لَنَا إِن‬
‫ك َعلَى‬ َ ُ‫َربَّنَا أَ ْت ِم ْم لَنَا ن‬
40. Forgiveness: for Thou ‫ُكلِّ َش ْي ٍء قَ ِدي ٌر‬
innaka 'ala kulli shay-in
hast power over all things. [8: ‫]التحريم‬
