LUCY BLUE, the chair of the Publications
Subcommittee (Pubsub) is another long standing
member of NAS and the NAS Executive Committee.
In fact she ran one of the first NAS training courses in
1981! She was chairman of NAS before George and
also used to chair the Outreach subcommittee. Pubsub
manages JNA, the newsletter, the monograph series
and the publication of the handbook. Dr Lucy Blue will
be very well known to members who are graduates
of Southampton University as she is a lecturer at the
Centre for Maritime Archaeology.
DAVID JOHNSTON, the chair of the Outreach
Subcommittee was elected to the Executive Committee
in 2004. Dave is a recreational diver and put himself
forward for the committee to represent the ordinary
member, however his day job as a natural history expert
and experience working for museums and universities,
also enables him to relate easily to the academics and
curators in archaeology. Dave will be very familiar to
many as a team member and project manager of the
