ABSTRACT
Pineapple wax coating machine consisting of cleaning, wax coating and drying
components was designed, constructed and tested. Pineapple fruits were conveyed continuously
through soaking water and rotating brushes for cleaning, then coated with wax dripped from
overhead perforated pipe. Subsequently they were dried in a wind tunnel. Finally the fruits were
wrapped with paper and packed in the box. The machine requires 30 operating man-power and
has capacity of 1500 fruitshr (300 boxeshr) or 3 tonneshr. It can save 40-50% labour cost,
20% of chemical used and extremely reduces area for drying. The fruits have not any mechar~icaP
damage by the machine.
