ADJECTIVE AND ADVERB

ADJECTIVE
1. Describe/modify nouns. (adj, Ving, V3, noun,
-al)
Eg. Diligent student, beautiful girl, crying
child, used book, student creativity , medical
school
2. An adjective is neither singular nor plural. A
final s never added to an adjective
I saw beautiful pictures
I saw beautifuls picture (incorrect)
ADVERB 1
1. Modify verbs. Often they answer the
question how. Eg. How does he walk? Quickly
adverbs are often formed by adding –ly to an
adjective

ADVERB 2
2. Adverbs are also modify adjectives.
eg. I am extremely happy
3. Adverbs are also used to express time or
frequency
eg. Tomorrow, today, soon, never, usually,
always, yet
4. Some adverbs may occure in the middle of a
sentence. -

4. eg. Ann always comes on time
Ann is always on time
Ann has always come on time
Does she always come on tine

Common midsentence adverbs:


ever, always, often, usually, seldom, generally,
never, already, finally, probably, hardly ever
